It was a really moving and personal account of the horrors of war. Our guide MAK was amazing and showed so much strength with all he and his family have faced. Would highly recommend it to fellow travellers. He was extremely knowledgeable about the history of Sarajevo.
My husband and I and two dear friends took this tour yesterday with Mak. The 4 of us are from the US, and each of us recall the tragic newscasts about the war as we were growing up, but none of us really understood the history or the details. Mak discussed his own experience as a young child growing up in Sarajevo, as well that of his family and, despite the tragedies they experienced, he presented a passionate and balanced perspective about the roles and responsibilities of the different ethnic groups involved. It was unforgettable. We all wholeheartedly, highly recommend this tour. BOOK IT!!
A very interesting tour. To get a first handed description of the tunnel of hope and the siege of Sarajevo made it very close to you.
Our tour of Sarajevo was an unforgettable experience, made exceptional by our guide, Mak. His knowledge of the city’s history was both rich and thoughtfully delivered, bringing to life the complexity and resilience that define Sarajevo. What set this tour apart, though, was the way Mak wove in his own personal story of living through the siege. Hearing history through his lived experience added a level of depth and authenticity that you simply cannot get from a textbook. Mak struck a remarkable balance between educating and connecting. It was moving, insightful, and deeply human. Thank you, Mak, for such a touching and memorable tour. It’s one we’ll carry with us for a long time.
Mak was a brilliant guide, a lovely guy, a safe driver and an excellent toyr guide. He managed to cram so much into this tour. The tour is so interesting, sometimes sad, sometimes beautiful, and incredibly informative and personal. We learnt so much about Sarajevo's history and it was a perfect introduction and overview of the city. I would highly recommend this tour.
Informative personal guidance of superb Mac. He was really knowledgeable about Sarajevo history and the wars. You got a strong insight into what it is like to live in Sarajevo today and what it was like to grow up before, during and after the war. All in view of the complex ethnic situation in the country and the city.
With empathy and a great knowledge of history and politics, our guide gave us a memorable afternoon. His personal memories as a soldier during the war made us feel humble and respectful. The guide's humor was ever present. No questions were too stupid to ask. The tour also gave us beautiful views from the mountains around Sarajevo. A tour well worth the money.
The tour was truly unforgettable and I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Sarajevo who wants to learn about the city’s past. It was insightful, impactful, and at times emotional. Mak shared a wealth of information, weaving in stories from his own experiences. He also went out of his way to ensure we were comfortable and that the pace suited us perfectly.
The guide was articulate, intelligent and passionate about providing information of the history, political situation and daily experience of Bosnia and Herzegovina both during the siege and currently. The experience was enriched beyond such details through his personal experiences including a visit to where he lived in such troubled times, providing an insight that reading and hearing about does not provide. Driving with a guide throughout the city and beyond provided me with a deeper understanding of the significance of the city layout that I had no idea about.
