I did Anna's tour on 6 June 2026. Her knowledge of the battle is very impressive indeed. She even knew the whereabouts of my father's unit (4 Bn Parachute Regiment) and the contribution they made. That really impressed me. There is of course a great deal of tragedy surrounding this battle and this is reflected in the Commonwealth cemetery (and no doubt the American, Polish and German ones which we did not visit). The visit to the abbey was the highlight for me. It has been re-built beautifully, but what struck me most was the commanding view of the valley and town of Cassino. I would thoroughly recommend this tour to anybody interested in Monte Cassino and form whatever point of view.
Anna is such a great guide. So impressed with her knowledge and insights into not just the battle but time leading up to it and rebuilding of the Abbey. Excellent tour and excellent guide- don’t miss it!!
Historical tour of areas involved in the World War II Battle of Cassino. Knowledgeable tour guide conveniently picks you up at the train station.
Anna our guide was fantastic with all her knowledge. She met us at the railway station so we did not have to try and navigate our way to our guide. We travelled in a van all over Cassino stopping at strategic points to give perspective of the battle! There is quite a few steps to the monastery so wear comfortable shoes! Bring water as you are out for three hours!
Anna was an excellent tour guide, with over 20 years experience, she was very friendly, knowledgeable & informative to provide us with all the information we needed to know to better understand the intense battles for Monte Cassino. The tour was conducted in a relaxed manner & Anna was happy to answer any additional questions that we had. I would highly recommend this tour!
How lovely to meet Anna, who's knowledge, explanations and interest in the events setting Cassino in 1944 are exemplary. The tour is well worth half a day off your time, as she takes you round some of the key places involved. We really enjoyed the tour, especially my mum, who dad was involved in the second battle.
Anna was very knowledgeable about the whole campaign, especially tailored to your nationality of interest. A very personal approach which had me fully engaged throughout the whole tour.
I had searched out this tour specific for the guides expertise and she did not disappoint. My partners father fought in WWII here and she has so many details and was able to provide visuals of what it would have been like for the boys...because they were boys fighting and dying here. Particularly appreciated the extra suggestions for visiting on our own the monuments in town.
Anna was very knowledgeable about the battle and the area around Monte Cassino and I learned a lot from her. She was also very pleasant and helpful.
A thoroughly interesting and entertaining tour with Anna. We took an easy train ride from Rome at 08.00hrs down to Cassino where we arrived at 09.52 where Anna met us and 5 other people. She was easy to find and we set off on time. If you really want to understand a particular battle then of course you need to visit the ground. Anna explained the four battles for Monte Cassino with consulate ease making it interesting for enthusiasts and novices alike. Her answers to questions were inciteful and in depth. Clearly no script here. Stops were at just below International Ridge, the bridge over the Rapido at St. Antonio, the Commonwealth War Cemetery and of course the Abbey of Monte Cassino itself. We were dropped off in good time for the return train to Rome.
