Fantastic hiking up Cavendish Road! Pino was our guide and so incredibly passionate and knowledgeable about the WWII historical significance and events taking place there. He brought the story to life with pictures and stories that really made the trip amazing. We ended at the Abby Montecassino which was a true sight to behold. This is a don’t miss opportunity for a day trip experience. Plan for a true outdoor hike, lots of uphill for the post Rome bread exercise!
Our entire experience was outstanding. Pino was an excellent and knowledgable guide who made this a very rewarding personal experience. The tour was well beyond our expectations. This was not just a guided tour of the sites but a deep journey through history with fascinating insights into the people and places of the time. Pino took care of everything and made this a remarkable and personally rewarding visit - highly recommended.
It was far beyond expectation! Full-time attention, with route setting according to what was best for us. Pino is very kind and deeply familiar with the historical events. It led us inside the Abbey in truly unexpected spaces. On the way to battle and the cemetery your considerations made all the difference! It's worth it!
Thank you so much for your incredibly kind words! 🙏 It was an absolute honor to walk with you and your family in Leopold's footsteps. Every time I share these trails with soldiers' families, I feel I'm doing more than guiding a tour - I'm helping to keep alive the memory of those who fought here. What moves me most is seeing how these research journeys are transforming into true friendships. We begin as guide and visitors, but we end as people united by the same mission: to preserve and honor these stories. Your wife, being a passionate historian, brought a special perspective to our journey. It was wonderful to share not just the physical places, but also the profound meaning behind every step Leopold took during the battle. The involvement with soldiers' families is taking more and more shape - every story we trace, every cemetery we visit, every trail we walk together creates bonds that go far beyond historical tourism. These are human connections that cross generations and continents. I hope to see you again soon, perhaps to explore other chapters of Leopold's story, or simply to share more memories together. The door of Hotel La Pace is always open for you - not as clients, but as friends. ❤️ With gratitude and friendship, Pino Valente
I’d really recommend this tour. Pino was an excellent guide, informative, thoughtful and relaxed in his style. It started at Pino’s hotel, where he has collected a lot of WW2 memorabilia and included going up on the rooftop to look across the town and up to the Abby. I walked with Pino from about 08:30 through to mid afternoon. If you can walk, go for this option. The climbs are gradual and the pace moderate. We also talked some wider Italian history, which I also really enjoyed. A moving place to visit. Would thoroughly recommend, thanks Pino.
Our large family group travelled to Italy to retrace my father’s footsteps during WW2 as a member of the Polish II Corps. We chose Pino’s Monte Cassino tour because of his in-depth historical knowledge and personalized approach. The tour exceeded expectations thanks to Pino’s unwavering passion and commitment. He shared his heart and soul with us and made us proud to be descendants of a heroic Polish soldier.
Loved this tour! I contacted Pino, the tour guide, to let him know I was a Soldier with the 34th Infantry Division. He provided lots of valuable information about the division and the other allies in the area. It was a rather hot day- 80 degrees. Lots of steps (more than 20,000) and a lot of it up hill. Bring plenty of water. Spectacular views and if you enjoy military history - this is definitely for you to walk in the steps of our WWII troops.
Interesting informative. Great to know the history of the area during World War 2. Pino is the best. Saw and heard things I never knew and would have never found out by myself.
Had an amazing time on this tour! Our guide Pino has so much knowledge to share on the battle for Cassino and made it a really enjoyable interesting experience. He's able to gauge what part of the battle his guests are most interested in and make the tour unique to cater to individuals. Would highly recommend to anyone interested in WW2.
We really enjoyed the battlefield tour. Pino will tailor the tour based on what you want to experience. His knowledge of the battle was absolutely incredible. I have done many battlefield tours and have never bene on one where the guide was so knowledgeable. I would highly recommend this extensive tour.
A truly unique experience that is worth doing both for lovers of Historical period, both for lovers of the "military", or for simple hikers Pino and the Cassino red poppy association are able to immerse you completely in a 360-degree experience taking you back 80 years, on the battlefields of those groups, thanks to their preparation, their explanations but above all to their empathy! Always in search of the TRUTH...
