This was a special experience for us. We are very used to winery tours and tastings but had never experienced an olive oil tour and tasting The tour was very interesting but the highlight was definitely the tasting. We enjoyed several varieties of olive oil paired with several different bites, some quite surprising. Highly recommend,

Interesting but poor value for money
The tour is very interesting: seeing the equipment, learning about the process, but the tasting is quite disappointing for the price. I understand the point is to taste the olive oil but for the hefty price tag, a few pieces of hard bread, 3 banana rounds, a handful of chick peas and a piece of chocolate was a let down. Perhaps a suggestion would be for the tour to also include a small bottle of olive oil? For the same price we tasted glorious wines and ate beautiful food at neighboring vineyards.

Dear Guest,
Thank you for taking the time to share your review. We truly value your feedback and will forward it to our team.
We would just like to clarify that our experience is not a food-serving experience, but a professional extra virgin olive oil tasting. We begin the tasting using traditional blue tasting glasses, following professional tasting protocols, and then accompany the oils with carefully selected small food pairings in specific quantities. These pairings are designed to enhance and reveal the characteristics and flavours of the extra virgin olive oil in the best possible way.
The tasting process and protocols for wine are quite different from those used for olive oil, so the experience may understandably feel different from a traditional wine tasting.
Once again, thank you for your honest feedback. We truly appreciate it and hope to have the opportunity to welcome you again.

A Fascinating Experience that Changed How We Think About Olive Oil
We hadn’t planned to visit Frantoio di Montalcino and arrived without a booking, but were greeted warmly and invited on a short tour and tasting.
We learned how seriously quality is taken and were fascinated to hear that during harvest season, the mill operates around the clock so olives can be processed immediately after picking. The commitment to preserving freshness and quality was evident throughout.
One of the most interesting things we learned was that Frantoio di Montalcino was the first olive mill in the world to implement sub-zero extraction technology, developed in collaboration with the University of Perugia. It was clear that innovation and tradition work hand in hand, and you could feel the excitement.
The tasting was outstanding. The BRUNERA with Natural White Truffle was unforgettable, with an extraordinary aroma and rich flavor. We were also shown the traditional olive oil tasting technique, where you warm the oil in your hand and then take a quick slurping breath while tasting to aerate it and release the full range of aromas and flavors.
The team explained that BRUNERA contains approximately 1,200 mg/kg of polyphenols, which are naturally occurring antioxidant compounds that contribute to flavor, freshness, and many of the health benefits associated with premium extra virgin olive oil. It helped us appreciate why this oil tastes so vibrant and why it has earned international recognition.
The visit completely changed our perspective on olive oil. We finally understood why a bowl of fresh pasta dressed with nothing more than exceptional olive oil can be considered a complete dish.
Before leaving, we purchased a five-bottle tasting bundle for €60 and chose their Garlic, Garlic & Chilli, and Lemon oils. And of course, we had to bring home a bottle of BRUNERA, which made our mashed potatoes very decadent 🙃.
A wonderful experience, passionate people, exceptional products, and worth a visit whether you’re an olive oil enthusiast or simply curious about one of Tuscany’s finest producers.

Montalcino's best olive oil store!
Thanks to Fernando and Ariana we had a really enjoyable time. Both of you were very kind to explain the olive oil, and we shared our couple's Italian travel stories and were warmly welcomed.
The spicy olive oil was all fresh and great, especially the Brunella Extra Virgin olive oil was impressive.
It was not only a good product but also a special experience to meet good people. If you are visiting Montalcino, this is a great place to visit!

A true Italian excellence. The wonderful world of the olive.
With my wife looking for oil mills in the heart of Tuscany, we discovered this true Italian excellence. Friendliness and kindness are the calling card that opens the door to the discovery of an oil of superlative quality. We were really impressed by the passion and expertise of the Master Oil Maker who introduced us to the world behind a can of oil. Competence and passion must be recognized and rewarded. Highly recommended. Greetings from Chioggia.

Awesome tour, worth the price!
Our tour guide was so much fun and extremely informative. We got such an education on how olive oil is made and how to pick good quality oil. We also had a few pieces of food to show how the oil works with foods.
My husband said he never thought he’d be doing shots of olive oil, haha.
Of course we bought some to bring home to the US.
The only downside was we felt the entrance wasn’t very well marked. We were driving and went past it. It’s just a dirt road to get in and we thought we were going the wrong way.
