Great experience

So many kangaroos and the koalas were active. The birds walking around freely are bold little fellas so watch your food. I loved the experience though.

Lone Pine Sanctuary Morning Visit

Lone Pine Sanctuary is a wonderful place to visit, located just outside Brisbane’s CBD. The native animals appeared very happy and well cared for in their enclosures, and the sanctuary itself was well maintained. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the informative talks provided some great insights into the animals. I’d definitely recommend visiting Lone Pine Sanctuary for a great opportunity to see and learn about Australia’s native wildlife.

A bitter feeling

If you want to see typical Australian animals, okay, but I don't think the conditions many of them are in are optimal. Some are in spacious areas and can socialize (like the kangaroos, sheep), but others are alone in small spaces. For example, a small aquarium with a single platypus, or in an enclosed space a single quokka, or a single Tasmanian devil or a single wombat. The truth is that I left with a feeling that those poor little animals have a hard time all alone in their enclosed spaces. I don't like zoos and I thought this sanctuary would be different, but I don't think it is ideal for keeping the little animals. In the case of the koalas, they have more than one per space, which is better since it allows them to socialize; but I think several are exposed to stress (for example, because of the ones people pay to touch. I didn't do it because I felt bad for them) or some who were in the space where people eat lunch.

Nice but it’s expensive for a few hours it needs

We had a pleasant experience overall. The layout is well designed, allowing you to enjoy a leisurely walk while seeing the different animals along the way. It’s worth planning your visit carefully, though, as if you arrive at the wrong time, many of the animals may be sleeping or inactive. The staff were pleasant and friendly, and the facilities were clean and well maintained for visitors. The main reason for the lower rating is the price. Paying over $200 for a family of four for just a few hours felt quite expensive, especially when compared with similar attractions. While we enjoyed our visit, the overall value for money could be better

Native Australian animals

This blew me away! What an amazing experience- seeing so many Australian native animals/reptiles - some in their natural habitat. A true highlight was feeding the kangaroos in the big, open space - so tame and unafraid! A wonderful experience I will never forget

Delightful day out

Definitely one of the top ways to spend 3 or 4 hours in Brisbane, especially during the mild winter weather. The car park looked to be packed with coaches and cars on arrival but the Sanctuary is well laid out and did not feel at all crowded - plenty of opportunities to sit and watch the koalas do their thing. They turn out to be a lot more agile than you’d expect, and quite captivating. We enjoyed some really good talks, shows & exhibits - not only koalas but crocs, raptors, sheepdogs, reptiles. A timetable is on the website so you can plan ahead and get a good spot early but we were able to arrive last minute and still see and hear everything - it’s so easy to navigate around and everything is well-signed. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable and put the emphasis on animal welfare. After a $30 discount offered at the time through trip advisor, a total of $78 for 1 adult & 1 child seemed particularly good value (even though admission prices appear a lot higher than a couple of years ago). Public bus was relatively easy from the city (about 30 mins, 1 transfer) and 50c each. Amazing! Overall, a great choice for a fun & educational excursion away from the city centre.

Amazing Experience

Amazing experience at Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary! I booked the Koala Close Up experience (AUD 79), and it was absolutely worth it. We spent about 15 minutes with a beautiful koala in a small group of six, taking turns to pet him while the keeper shared facts about koalas and their behavior. I also spent plenty of time in the free-range kangaroo area, where I got to pet and feed the kangaroos. They were so calm, friendly, and such a joy to interact with. If you're visiting Brisbane, I'd totally recommend visiting!

More Koala than you will see in a lifetime. Must see

Although we went when temperature was over 100* f we had a wonderful time. Got to see a rare aligator feeding, lots of birds and other animals like Kangaroos and what was easily 100 different Koalas. Never new they would have so many. I have tons of cute photos from that day. It wasn't crowded, had a little bit to eat & drink and I don't recall how much it was but seems like it wasn't too much and we did take Uber to and from. Highly recommend
