When you're travelling with Laps, he's not simply pointing out places on a map—he's taking you past his own village, sharing stories about his neighbours, his community and the way of life he grew up with. That personal connection is something very special. It sounds like you also experienced a little genuine "Fiji Time" in the village! The issue was there was a funeral in the neighbouring village, which they attended and then made their way home to Naveyago to welcome the vistors. These are real, living communities rather than staged tourist attractions, and occasionally village life has its own timetable. Often those unexpected moments become some of the best memories of the day. We're pleased you enjoyed the welcome ceremony, village lunch, singing and dancing. Fijians certainly don't take themselves too seriously, and once the music starts, it doesn't take long before guests become part of the fun as well.
