The tour itself was great. It was neat to see this part of our Mt. Fuji area visit. It was me, my husband and our two kids ages 10 and 6. I loved seeing the cave, ice and also the forest walk. I was hoping to see more ice but we also came in August. Toshi provided us helmets and textured gloves to maneuver the cave. I would say the cave walk was more aggressive than I would have thought. I would still have done it with my kids, but just be aware it's not flat and you need a child with full control of their movements.
We had a wonderful time exploring the forest and cave with Toshi-san. He is very experienced, knowledgeable, funny, attentive. He made us feel very comfortable and calm. The forest is beautiful and has a very unique look. It was so fun just experiencing the forest. The experience in the cave was truly special - and a great respite from the summer heat (if you visit in summer). Definitely recommend going on this tour. We travelled on a day trip from Tokyo for this tour and to cycle around the Fuji area. Thanks again to Toshi-san! -Couple from Canberra, Australia.
Thank you so much for the wonderful meeting and for your kind and thoughtful comments. During the hot summer, the forest is noticeably cooler than the town thanks to the cooling effect of transpiration from the trees. You can also escape the heat by exploring the refreshing ice cave. We'd love to welcome you back to refresh your mind in the forest, enjoy a peaceful forest bath, and discover the fascinating world of mosses and mushrooms. The story of Mt. Fuji and the Aokigahara Forest is still unfolding, and we hope you'll come back to experience the next chapter with us.
The ice caves tour was great. Very interesting to see. Our guide Toshi was very knowledgeable and passionate about the plants and fungus in the area. The forest was hauntingly beautiful. Would definitely recommend this tour.
Thank you very much for your wonderful comments. As the season progresses, many kinds of mushrooms will start appearing in the forest. If you love mushrooms, mosses, and nature, we highly recommend joining our Jukai Forest Tour. We would love to see you again at the foot of Mt. Fuji! 🌲🍄✨
Great tour of ice caves. Guide was terrific! Be prepared for real cave hiking, very natural, undisturbed environment. Rugged
Thank you very much for your kind comments. I hope you enjoy your trip in Japan. Mount Fuji is waiting for you, so please come visit again someday!
We had a great tour with Toshi! The cave and the forest were impressive and he told us a lot about the nature. It was a lot of fun and we definitely recommend booking this adventure.
Thank you very much for joining the tour, and also for your lovely comments. From now on, mushrooms and summer flowers will begin to appear, and the forest will become lively with squirrels, badgers, and birds. Please come visit the foothills of Mount Fuji again someday!
Highly recommended!! The forest is beautiful, and Toshi-san knew a lot about the trees, mosses, flowers and animals, as wel as the history. The cave was amazing, it almost seemed like a different world, with all the glittering ice and the cold temperature. Apparently during winter there are giant ice stalactites and stalagmites, which would be amazing to see! I went when it was very warm and sunny, and when you go down into the cave entrance it's almost like standing in front of a giant freezer, so I also recommend it during the warmer months! First time I've been in an actual cave, 10/10 😁😁
Thank you so much for your kind comments. It was a pleasure and an honor to talk with you. I really enjoyed hearing many stories about Germany and learned a lot from our conversation. How did you like the unique Sea of Trees forest? It is a rich and fascinating forest with distinctive lava terrain, unusual plants, fungi, and mosses. As we move toward summer, many different creatures begin to appear and become active. But even in the middle of summer, the cave stays cool and refreshing. Please come visit the foothills of Mt. Fuji again someday. I would be happy to show you around the small village where I live.
Toshi was an awesome guide and kept all 4 of us engaged and entertained the whole time. He even picked us up and dropped us off at our hotel. This was one of our favorite activities in Japan!
It was great meeting you all. As we head into summer, the weather will get hotter and hotter, but the Sea of Trees forest stays cool thanks to the lush green trees, and the ice cave offers a truly blissful moment of refreshment. Everyone, escape the heat of Tokyo and come visit Mt. Fuji and its beautiful cool forests!
We had a great time in the forest and exploring the cave. It was a suspended moment! Toshi san has taught us a lot about the flora and fauna of Mount Fuji, but also about Japan in general. He has very good communication and good humor! It was a pleasure to have him as a guide! Thank you very much Toshi san!
It was so nice meeting you. Thank you for the lovely stories about France. I hope you have a fantastic time in Kyoto and Okinawa. Hopefully someday we can climb Mt. Fuji together! Please come back and visit the Fuji Five Lakes area again anytime.
Toshi was an incredible guide. It was obvious that he loved what he did and gave us great information about the local fauna. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
Thank you so much for your kind comment. Even though it’s already spring, the icicles and ice formations inside the caves are still very impressive to see. From now on, the Aokigahara forest will start to come alive—fresh green leaves will appear, and plants, animals, and even microorganisms will become more active, making it an exciting season to visit. We would love to welcome you back to the Fuji Five Lakes area again!
Exploring the Mt. Fuji Ice Cave with Toshi-san was honestly one of the most unforgettable experiences of our trip. We went on a cold, snowy day, which made the entire landscape feel quiet and almost dreamlike. Toshi-san’s calm, steady presence made it easy to fully take it all in and appreciate the surroundings. Along the way, he pointed out details we would have completely missed on our own—various types of fungus growing on the trees, how parts of the forest are being affected by disease, and even specific leaves traditionally used for sushi plating. These small insights added so much depth, turning a simple walk into something truly educational and eye-opening. He also kept things fun and engaging—at one point, he played a clever trick on us by mimicking a bird call so convincingly that we were all looking around trying to spot it. It was a small moment, but it made the experience feel even more personal and memorable. The Ice Cave itself was incredible—raw, silent, and otherworldly. What made it even more fascinating was learning its history. Toshi-san explained how the cave was once used to store silkworm eggs and other silk-related materials, using the naturally cold temperatures for preservation long before modern refrigeration. That context made the experience feel much more meaningful. What stood out most was his attentiveness—he paced everything well, checked in often, and made sure everyone was comfortable despite the cold conditions. Nothing felt rushed or overly scripted. If you’re looking for more than just sightseeing—something immersive, thoughtful, and genuinely memorable—I can’t recommend Toshi-san enough.
Thank you so much for your kind and wonderful comment. It was truly a pleasure meeting you. I was genuinely impressed by your insight, and I learned a great deal from you as well. The scenery of the Aokigahara forest and Mt. Fuji changes beautifully through the seasons—spring, summer, autumn, and winter—and sometimes surprises us with breathtaking views. We would be delighted to welcome you back again.
