Having previously done an Inklings tour, I thought i knew what to expect. Our guide, Tom, blew through those expectations very quickly. His knowledge of CS Lewis and JRR Tolkien was encyclopedic, and his ability to weave stories, dates, and places into an interesting narrative was unmatched. Our party of four included one librarian and three avid readers, all with a better-than-average knowledge of these two giants of twentieth century literature. This created a scintillating conversation in which each of us learned many interesting things. As an added treat, two of our group are into Harry Potter, and Tom was equally well versed in that world. The time flew by, and we were all surprised (and delighted) that our tour had gone well past our allotted time. Thanks Tom!.

I went into this tour already fairly well-read on both C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien, so I wasn't sure how much new I'd actually learn. However, the tour did a brilliant job of connecting details I already knew into a fuller picture I hadn't quite put together before. Walking the actual streets and places where these two used to meet and talk makes the history feel real in a way books can't. Andrianna, our guide was lovely: genuinely knowledgeable, easy to talk to, and happy to go deeper when asked questions. It never felt like a scripted recitation but more like being shown around by someone who knows the city and the stories well. The highlight for me was the Inklings corner at the Lamb and flag as well as the entry into Magdalen College, where Lewis taught for years. Seeing the grounds and buildings tied directly to his life added a lot that you don't get from just walking past the outside. If you have any interest in the Inklings, Narnia, Tolkien or just Oxford's literary history, this tour is well worth it. I'd highly recommend it.

A fantastic and must-do experience in Oxford!I absolutely loved the tour. It was highly educational, and I learned so much about C.S. Lewis, Tolkien... but everything was shared in a very fun and engaging way. The guide made the tour fly by thanks to their great anecdotes and energy. I highly recommend it, whether you are a fan or just want to discover Oxford's history from a different perspective. 10 out of 10!

I have always been a massive Middle Earth fan, so visiting Oxford has been a great experience. I didn’t know the city had such a massive influence on his live and writings, visiting the places where he lived or worked has been awesome. I am less interested in Lewis, but it was good to learn more about him as well. Alasdair is a great guide, approachable and knowledgeable, and very good company. 5 stars!

This is the second time we have participated in a tour with Alasdair: we have relatives in London and we liked the previous tour so much that this time I also brought my partner, a great fan of C.S. Lewis. The experience did not disappoint expectations. The visit to the Magdalen College gardens was the highlight: it was exciting to see the places where Lewis and Tolkien walked and conversed

If you’re a fan of C.S. Lewis, Tolkien, literature, or Oxford’s fascinating history, I highly recommend this tour. It was a memorable experience and gave me a much deeper appreciation for both authors and their connection to the city. The guide was funny and responsive. Money well spent on this trip! I will likely book another one of his tours.

This was an excellent and interesting tour and the guide Alisdair arrived on time and gave us lots of helpful info about Oxford university and city. We visited beautiful Magdalen College with the chapel and the deer park and he told us all about the Inklings literary group including C S Lewis and J R R Tolkien as well as about many other famous figures related to Oxford. We will definitely recommend his tour, A+

We had an absolutely outstanding private tour with Will, and it was one of the highlights of our visit to Oxford. If you’re looking for a different way to discover the city, I cannot recommend his Tolkien and C.S. Lewis tour highly enough. It goes far beyond the usual historical facts, bringing Oxford to life through the stories, friendships, and inspirations behind these two extraordinary authors. Will is an exceptional guide. His knowledge is impressive, but what really sets him apart is the way he tells the story. He is engaging, passionate, friendly, and has a wonderful sense of humour. Every stop felt meaningful, and he answered all our questions with enthusiasm and depth. Although the tour is in English, Will made a real effort to explain parts of it in Spanish whenever he could, which we greatly appreciated. His kindness and willingness to make sure we understood everything made the experience even more enjoyable. His native English is also a pleasure to listen to: clear, expressive, and easy to follow. By the end of the tour, we felt we had experienced a completely different side of Oxford—one that we would never have discovered on our own. If you are a fan of Tolkien, C.S. Michael was a fountain of knowledge, but was always careful to ask us what we were most interested in rather, than the fire hose approach. It felt very personalized. Highly recommend him!
