Did the Köln Guided Tour today. Excellent experience. Guide was knowledgeable and engaging. Made the history come alive, didn’t just recite facts. Cologne Cathedral was the highlight. Guide’s insights gave it a whole new dimension. Highly recommend to anyone visiting Cologne.
Anupama was an excellent tour guide! I am an international student and new to Cologne. The first time, I joined the walking tour with one of my friends, and we really loved the way Anupama explained everything. She conducted the entire tour in English, making it easy for us to understand. She shared the history of Cologne, its famous landmarks, and many interesting stories in a very engaging way. Despite the scorching heat, I have really enjoyed discovering this beautiful city on this fantastic walking tour. Our lovely host was very friendly and knowledgeable, I’ve found out so much about Cologne.
Tour guide requested we change the schedule to accommodate her schedule then the tour guide was very late and even cut the tour early. Basically a 2 hour tour turned in to a little more than an hour. She really didn’t know a lot about the history of the city as she’s only lived here a few years.

I always book a walking tour when I travel the world. My base expectation is that the guide will not only be passionate about the city, but will have stories define the personality of the location and curate tales that you can't find on ChatGPT. Our guide, a personable young woman, was a complete novice. An Indian national, she had lived in Cologne for one year and been a tour guide for just one month. Her knowledge of Cologne was superficial - less than ChatGPT which I scrambled to use to make sense of sites. Her response to questions followed the same path: "basically, this is an old city with lots of history." Duh! This was a complete waste of time. Grab a 6EURO audio tour and avoid the tourist trap.

The guide did not speak very good english and was hard to understand. Her knowledge of Cologne's history was vague. We felt a self guided tour would have been more informative. Not worth the value.
