Thank you for the review. A few points deserve clarification, as the overall picture presented is rather misleading. This award-winning tour is known for its personal atmosphere rather than a mass-tour format and is frequently in high demand. On this particular occasion, it was conducted exclusively for one guest because, by coincidence, the other participants scheduled for that time had to postpone due to a delayed train. The tour therefore went ahead as a private experience, without any additional charge — quite a considerable courtesy under the circumstances. The reference to “10 minutes left in the tour” is also misleading. The coffee stop was very brief, after which the tour continued immediately with the planned stops and sights, and the full two hours were comfortably reached. The tour was certainly not shortened. The coffee stop was neither random nor a sales opportunity. It was a genuine local insider tip, particularly popular with locals, and there was absolutely no pressure whatsoever to purchase anything. Many of our guests have actually been delighted to discover such local insider tips that they would otherwise never have found themselves. The comments about the guide’s interactions with locals are equally based on a misunderstanding. The people he greeted were restaurant owners he knows from seeing them regularly — and, importantly, they were sitting outside on their own guest chairs at the time. The suggestion that they “clearly didn’t want to talk” was therefore an assumption based on a situation whose language, conversation and cultural context were evidently not fully understood. Local humour, irony and informal interaction may understandably be unfamiliar to visitors, but that does of course not make a perfectly normal greeting inappropriate. As for the pace, the tour certainly did not “rush through” the city. A great deal of detail, history and local context is shown and explained — precisely what has been repeatedly praised by numerous previous guests. The tour covers the major sights, includes plenty of walking at a sensible pace, and reveals numerous lesser-known details and places that visitors would very easily overlook or simply never find on their own. There was also ample opportunity throughout the tour to ask questions or request more detail. It was clearly stated that the tour does not include entering attractions. The guide also explained during the tour that the Roman-Germanic Museum next to the cathedral is currently closed and pointed out the replacement exhibition elsewhere. Expecting cathedral or museum admission to be included at this price is rather unrealistic. A rating of 4 out of 5 would normally indicate a largely positive experience. It is therefore unfortunate that so much of the review rests on assumptions and interpretations which, when compared with what actually happened, simply do not hold up. We are always happy to accept genuine criticism. In this case, however, the review seems to say considerably more about how the experience was interpreted than about the experience itself.
