キング ストリートは 300 年以上の歴史があり、チャールストンで 2 番目に歴史のある通りとして知られています。このエリアではミーティング ストリートの方が先を進んでいます。
この家はチャールストンで最もよく保存されている南北戦争前の住宅建築群と考えられています。ここはサウスカロライナ州知事ウィリアム・エイキン・ジュニアの邸宅であり、それ以前はサウスカロライナ運河鉄道会社の所有者である彼の父ウィリアム・エイキンの邸宅でした。
1942 年にチャールストンの最高の映画館としてオープンしたアメリカン シアターは、堂々としたアールデコ様式の建築と時代を超えたハリウッドの魅力を備え、レッド カーペットや華やかなテントを敷くにふさわしい洗練されたイベント会場となっています。
歴史的にはタワー デポとして知られていたチャールストン ミュージック ホールは、サウス カロライナ鉄道の旅客駅として 1849 年から 1850 年にかけて建設され、チャールストンの建築家エドワード C. ジョーンズによって設計されました。
チャールストンのダウンタウン、アン通りとジョン通りの間にある古いディーン倉庫に位置し、ウィリアム・エイキン・ハウスと関連鉄道構造物として総称される 5 つの鉄道建物のうちの 1 つであり、国定歴史建造物地区に指定されています。
サウスカロライナ州チャールストンのラッグボロ地区は彼にちなんで名付けられており、チャールストンの2つの市立公園と7つの通りも彼とその子孫にちなんで名付けられている。
彼の家はもともとチャールストンの二世帯住宅として建てられ、ジュディス通り沿いの南側から家に入ることができました。この家はチャールストンにある南北戦争前の住宅建築物の中で最もよく保存されていると考えられています。
土曜日には、観光客も地元の人も、マリオン スクエア ファーマーズ マーケットで新鮮な食材や地元の名物料理を買い求めます。絵のように美しい通りで日中はウィンドウ ショッピングを楽しみ、夜は最新の人気スポットで楽しむことができます。
ホテル ベネットは 2019 年 1 月 27 日にオープンしました。2015 年 3 月に着工し、47 か月かけて建設されたこのホテルは、その起源が 18 世紀にまで遡るかのように感じられるように設計されています。チャールストンの歴史的な家屋の多くがデザインの参考にされました。
1886 年の地震後に建設された 3 番目の消防署は、新しい第 6 消防署でした。この消防署は、ブロックのすぐ先にあった旧マリオン蒸気消防署の代わりとなりました。

My husband and I went on the lunch tour with Robin. Probably one of the best tours we have been on. Robin was very entertaining and also gave us the history of the food and some of the city. Would definitely do this again

We had a wonderful tour this morning with Nathan! He was warm, friendly, and very knowledgeable about all things Charleston. We loved each stop and getting to try the local fare. Everything was delicious, and Nathan arranged alternatives for the Vegetarian and Gluten-Free members of our group. In between food stops, we learned a ton about Charleston's history. At the end of the tour, he also sent a list of recommended restaurants and key things we learned, so we could do a deeper dive on our own. He also took a group picture and sent it to us. It was a very pleasant way to get to know Charleston with a local. We highly recommend it!

Beth was our guide and we had a nice tour around N King St. She was very knowledgeable and we learned a lot about the history of the area, history of some restaurants and had some great food. Shrimp and grits were my favorite of the tour.
