This trip is marketed as a thrilling off-road ATV adventure through Nha Trang’s tropical jungle, exploring hidden trails, crossing streams and taking in panoramic views, all while being suitable for beginners. I can say with complete confidence that we experienced something very different. The day began with an early hotel pickup on what appeared to be a veteran of many previous tours. The large open windows generously allowed the Vietnamese sunshine, heat and UV rays to join us for the journey. The air conditioning put up a brave fight but ultimately surrendered, leaving everyone glistening before we had even reached the activity. Upon arrival, we completed the safety waivers and headed towards the ATV area. After a short transfer up the hill, we arrived at a clearing containing a fleet of ATVs that had clearly lived full and adventurous lives. Missing front panels, cracked bodywork, bent brake levers and various battle scars suggested these machines had seen things. Following the safety briefing, we were given our ATV and allowed a brief practice session. During this, a couple of participants immediately performed manoeuvres specifically prohibited by the waiver, much to the amusement of the guides. Confidence levels were rising. Then we set off. Remember that “perfect for beginners” claim? About that… Within minutes we were navigating large rocks, deep ruts, steep drops and climbs that looked closer to a mountain goat training course than an introductory ATV experience. Some sections featured gradients that felt more like a ski slope than a beginner trail. The tour description also suggests you can ride solo or as a couple. When I explained that Megan wasn’t comfortable driving her own ATV, we were informed that riding together would be “very dangerous.” This was slightly concerning, given that the advertisement had suggested exactly that. As we ventured into the forest, the true star of the show emerged: mechanical failure. Approximately five minutes into the ride, one ATV suffered a puncture. Five minutes later, ours experienced a complete electrical failure in the middle of the track. Along the route we also spotted several abandoned ATVs resting peacefully in the jungle, presumably after reaching the end of their working lives. We certainly returned with fewer functioning vehicles than we started with. Another disappointment was the complete lack of any interpretation or information about the jungle itself. The tour description talks about exploring Nha Trang’s tropical rainforest and discovering hidden trails, but at no point did we learn anything about the wildlife, plants, history or environment around us. There were certainly no hidden treasures to discover either, unless abandoned ATVs count as archaeological finds. In fact, a surprising amount of the excursion seemed to revolve around dealing with broken vehicles. Between punctures, electrical failures and stranded ATVs scattered around the course, the experience often felt less like a jungle exploration and more like an off-road recovery mission. As for the advertised panoramic views and jungle exploration, these were largely absent. The highlight was a large open area containing a few jumps and a muddy puddle where participants spent their time charging around at full speed. If you’re looking for an excuse to drive an ATV in circles, you’ll probably enjoy it. If you’re hoping for a scenic jungle exploration, you may leave disappointed. After eventually returning to base, we asked about our transfer back to Nha Trang. This was when we learned we would be waiting almost two hours for guests who had booked additional activities, including the zipline. This delay had not been communicated beforehand. Spending nearly two hours sitting in the heat after an exhausting ride was not how we had envisioned ending the excursion. The return journey itself was perhaps the most worrying part of the day. We have spent over two weeks travelling throughout Vietnam and have never once felt unsafe in a vehicle. During this transfer, however, we genuinely did. The conditions on the bus were incredibly hot and uncomfortable, to the point where Megan nearly passed out from the heat. It is also worth noting that this excursion is not suitable for anyone with existing back, neck or joint problems. The terrain is extremely rough, with constant jolting, bouncing and sudden impacts as the ATVs navigate rocks, ruts and steep inclines. Even as someone without significant mobility issues, I found parts of the ride physically demanding. If you suffer from back or neck pain, or are recovering from an injury, I would strongly recommend choosing a different activity unless your idea of a relaxing holiday involves being shaken like a cocktail for several hours. We booked this excursion expecting a beginner-friendly jungle adventure where we could learn about the local environment whilst enjoying some gentle off-road riding. Instead, we found ourselves navigating extreme terrain on poorly maintained ATVs, dealing with breakdowns, waiting around for hours, and wondering whether the tour description had been written for an entirely different activity. Nha Trang has plenty of fantastic experiences to offer visitors. Unfortunately, this was not one of them. If you are considering booking this tour based on the advertised jungle exploration and beginner-friendly experience, I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere.
If you are going to book this there will be lots of unnecessary waiting around. 5-6hours is broken down as follows: minimum 1 hour to get there, then wait 30min to an hour, then courtesy lunch, then wait 1 hour, we only did the ATV so we got to do that for an hour then wait for the other groups to finish their activities (1-1.5hours) then you get to leave. We were told to wait at the pick up at 11:30am, picked up at 11:50am then sat around and were only allowed to be set home at 5:30pm. That was an unnecessarily long and there is really nothing to do while waiting. If you are only doing one activity, then it's a serious waste of time. And the lack of communication by the Kong reps about what's happening or which activities are happening is absolutely annoying. But saying that, about the ATV experience. It was nice. The instructors are really friendly and just a great bunch. The ATVs are old and some don't work (or the brakes don't work). Our ATV driver took some great shots of us riding behind him. But there was one shot I really wish I got, it was of the city peaking through the jungle. It was unfortunate that we didn't get a chance to experience the beauty of the jungle and take some photos. The ATV experience is mostly just ride around with complete disregard for the environment around you. Oh and I paid USD$88 per person and I was still required to give a tip, something that was never communicated. The experience with the viator organisers. I wish I knew more about the unnecessary waiting. I would have asked to arrange a car to take us down earlier. But they did try to fix this and even offered a bus ticket to tour the Nga Trang city that I declined. Overall, if you are doing one activity it's an absolute waste of time. The equipment is old and tired and everything needs a serious overhaul. The stairs are uneven so if you are going down to the eating area, makesure you have the energy and ability to climb back up. Pros: the people are nice
Super unique experience. Pictures & videos are also recorded during the tour. These are available for only 3€. The quad tour was extreme and so far the best I have ever done. Zipline was also a lot of fun. I would book the tour again and again.
Loads of fun! Very safe but felt like a challenge! Zip lining and 4x4 s in the jungle. You will not be disappointed!
The guide was awesome, but the ride is very short and the ATV is a piece of crap. Maybe some maintenance should be done!!!
Great staffs and activities! Appreciate and had a lot of fun thanks again everyone, only issue was many messages to set up pick up and drop off, they kept changing the time until last minute. For the rest all great thanks
Great trip , good enthusiastic guides ,zip line and ATV where exciting , the bus journey in is a bit bumpy but to be expected
It's certainly a once in a lifetime. Really got to experience the Vietnamese jungle. You have to have a lot of strength in your upper arms to turn and keep the quad on track (and not go over the edge)
We did zip lining and drove ATVs, both around an hour each. The bus drive there is a little rough with the road conditions but can’t be helped. Amazing experience for couples and friends. The buffet was great too. Staff are very friendly.
So much fun! I loved the ATV through the forest. It was my first time doing it and it was also the first time zip lining. I was not a big fan of the zip line but my wife enjoyed it. I liked the off roading better.
