Gemma and Elsie were amazing. Gemma was very knowledgeable and passionate about the city of Victoria's history. Elsie was exceptionally calm considering the length of the tour and the surrounding traffic. It was the highlight of our vacations !!!
The love and care that these folks show for their equine partners is exceptional and is evident in everything that they do. Emily goes above and beyond in making sure that visitors are taken care of, and make us feel like part of their family as well. Rowen (I apologize if misspelled) was great when we arrived, very friendly and informative. We had booked 2 carriages and we arrived about 20 minutes early so we visited with our driver, Ellie, and her equine partner, the hilarious Mac, as we waited for driver Liz and her lovely equine partner, Utah, to arrive. We boarded the carriages and were off on a 90 minute tour of James Bay and Beacon Hill Park, passing Fisherman's Wharf and Parliament House. The city was beautifully lit and our tour guides did a wonderful job of highlighting the city that we hadn't experienced on a tour bus during a previous visit to the city. Thank you all for a wonderful evening during our limited time in town. We all thoroughly enjoyed it.
Very friendly staff and very quiet horses. Traffic noise interfered with our interaction with the driver. All was good.
The clip-clop of the horse's hooves, the history of the town, the heritage homes and buildings-- it was all just right.
Not what I thought I was paying for. The description of this tour says, "This tour includes all the highlights Victoria has to offer." Only you don't find out until you're on the ride that the city apparently doesn't allow the tours to go anywhere outside of basically the James Bay neighborhood. No Chinatown, no Downtown, nothing else So while the tour of Fisherman's Wharf and Beacon Hill park and James Bay was nice, it felt very drawn out. Our carriage ride felt like we went back and forth down a couple of streets in very near proximity to only extend a shorter tour without actually seeing anything of significance. I'd skip the tour of Fisherman's Wharf if I had to do this again and would suggest a shorter booking. Horse was nice though
Wonderful tour of Victoria. Our driver Katlyn was knowledgeable and just a joy. Her noble steed Tommy definitely has a mind of his own at times --LOL.
Knowing the historical homes. Stained glass Very knowledgeable. Need to have a Mike for the driver. Not only the larger carriages. The driver was excellent.
We boarded our carriage on a lovely Saturday afternoon. Our driver Emma was new but her horse Duchess was not. Emma knew the history which was wonderful but it was hard for use to hear with the other noises around us and us being behind her. We were a group of over 65 years, so hearing is a little more challenging anyway. Lovely tour and a great way to see the city before we started exploring on our on. The downside was I made our reservation online at least 24 hours beforehand through the Tripadvisor app on my phone and when we checked into the kiosk, the young man had no record of our reservation. However it was quickly resolved and we started our ride about 10 minutes late. Also note there are several companies doing carriage tours out of the same area, be sure to get the right kiosk.
It was an enjoyable and informative tour of older Victoria. Our guide was able to answer all of our questions and when she didn’t know she said we’ll have to look that one up. Chuck was an easy going and obedient horse. Love that he joined the dialogue at times.
The driver, Kelly, was very knowledgeable and engaging. She was patient with and responsive to our questions. My step-daughter and I would have preferred a buggy to the Cinderella carriage (I purposefully didn't choose the romantic itinerary) but it got the job done. Of course, we loved Dutchie, our 17 year-old Percheron/paint mix who powered the entire trip. I would recommend layers of clothing; our trip was early afternoon and it got quite warm in the open carriage.
