The outstanding rating of Curassow Amazon Lodge speaks for itself, and after my six-day stay in August 2026, I fully understand why. My experience confirmed it in every aspect – from accommodation and food to activities and, above all, the people. Communication and booking were easy and efficient, with all necessary information provided in advance. The transfer to the lodge was equally well organized and comfortable. Curassow Amazon Lodge is exceptionally well maintained. The bungalows are spotlessly clean and in excellent condition, with great attention to detail. The common area provides 24/7 drinking water, hot water for tea or coffee, and snacks. Most importantly, the entire staff is exceptionally warm and welcoming – you genuinely feel looked after and at home throughout your stay. The food is another highlight. Quality, variety and quantity are excellent, with changing meals, fresh fruits and juices and always plenty of food available. A huge thank you to the amazing chefs who made every meal something to look forward to. The activities provide a varied and well-rounded Amazon experience: boat trips and jungle walks from early morning until after dark, kayaking, fishing, swimming in the Amazon, visiting a local community and, of course, observing the incredible diversity of Amazonian wildlife. The itinerary is flexible and adapted to guests’ wishes and preferences, weather, current wildlife activity and energy levels. If you have the time, I strongly recommend staying at least 5 days/4 nights. Every additional day naturally increases your chances of encountering a wider variety of wildlife and lets you enjoy the activities without feeling rushed. Definitely do not miss spending a night camping in the rainforest – sleeping in a hammock under a mosquito net, surrounded by the sounds of the jungle, is a truly unique experience. What really makes Curassow Amazon Lodge special are the guides and boat captains. Each guest or group has their own guide and captain throughout their stay. They are highly professional, have extensive local knowledge – with some coming from nearby communities – and know the area like the back of their hands. Their knowledge of the area, wildlife, plants and trees, as well as animal behavior and habits, is incredible, and their ability to spot animals is genuinely world-class. Examples include spotting a sloth hidden high in the canopy from a remarkable distance, a turtle barely the size of a fist while traveling by boat, and a boa hidden among the branches during a night boat ride. Whether navigating jungle trails and waterways, setting up a rainforest camp, demonstrating survival techniques or fishing, their experience shows in everything they do. A special mention goes to Daniel, whose ability to catch fish with a spear from a moving boat was particularly impressive. Finally, a very special thank you to Jorge and Jeremy, who accompanied me throughout my six-day stay and played a huge part in making it so memorable. Their knowledge, skills, professionalism and genuine enthusiasm for their work and the incredible nature of the Amazon turned an already extraordinary place into an outstanding Amazon experience. I wholeheartedly recommend Curassow Amazon Lodge to anyone wanting to experience the Amazon and its incredible nature and wildlife with highly knowledgeable guides while staying at a comfortable and exceptionally well-run lodge.
