What we liked most about this trip was that no two days felt the same. Munnar gave us the cool air, tea-covered hills and long scenic drives we had imagined before coming to Kerala, but the atmosphere was much quieter than expected. We especially enjoyed the smaller stops along the way rather than trying to rush through every viewpoint. Thekkady brought a completely different side of the trip. The spice-growing areas were fascinating, and it was interesting to see how much of everyday Kerala life is connected to plantations and local agriculture. Alleppey was probably the point where we properly slowed down. The houseboat was peaceful, the food was good, and simply watching the waterways and village life from the boat became one of our favourite memories. Kovalam was a relaxed way to finish. After several days of travelling, having some time by the coast felt like exactly the right ending. The private vehicle also made a big difference. We never had to worry about finding transport, moving luggage or sticking to someone else’s timetable. Our driver was helpful, patient and easy to travel with throughout the six days. Nothing dramatic needed to happen. That calmness was probably why it became one of my favourite parts. By the time we reached the coast, we were happy not to have another long list of attractions waiting for us. Having time around Kovalam before finishing towards Trivandrum gave the trip a much softer ending. Another thing I appreciated was the private nature of the tour. We weren't tied to a large group or waiting for dozens of people at every stop. If we wanted tea, a photograph or simply ten extra minutes somewhere, it wasn't a problem. The driver also deserves a mention because he made the road sections comfortable and never made our little detours feel inconvenient. Troper Tours handled the organising without making the holiday feel organised to death. Hotels, transport and the main route were sorted, while we still had enough freedom to enjoy things naturally. For me, that was the strongest part of this private Kerala tour. We saw the famous scenery and cultural attractions, but the trip still had room for ordinary moments. We spent a lot of time just sitting outside, watching boats and village life go past. No sightseeing checklist, no rushing—just enjoying the surroundings. Kovalam gave us a completely different ending with its coastal atmosphere and relaxed evenings. We also have to mention the driver. He was calm, respectful and genuinely helpful throughout the journey. Even on the longer drives, everything felt easy. Troper Tours handled the planning behind the scenes while leaving us free to enjoy the actual holiday. For us, that balance made the biggest difference. We returned home feeling rested rather than exhausted, which is exactly what we wanted from our Kerala trip.

Eating meals while slowly moving through the backwaters is a simple activity I found to be quite an incredible memory to have during the entire trip — sitting on that houseboat just watching people along the canals. If we were being faced with yet another day of heavy sightseeing, Kovalam offered residents the opportunity to call a halt. After such a long drive, we needed 3 days of beach. The practical side was also a cinch. The vehicle was comfortable, the driver had done this route so many times that even a rock concert would not have distracted him, and whenever we had a question or needed to clarify something Troper Tours were right there. What I enjoyed most was the balance. Certainly, there was enough sightseeing to justify our six days being away, but also enough down time that we actually had the chance to enjoy where we are! Kerala offered me more memories than I anticipated for a 6-day trip. This is the second time I have travelled with Troper Tours and would easily recommend them to anyone wanting to see this part of India without it being a race.
