We booked two private aurora-chasing tours with Nico in mid-October, and the experience was outstanding. It far exceeded our expectations. We could never have taken such spectacular photos without his help. Nico is truly passionate about what he does. He’s an excellent teacher, patient and thorough in his explanations, and he goes out of his way to find the best locations while making sure you’re comfortable and well looked after throughout the night. If you’re visiting Tromsø and want to see the Northern Lights and come home with photos you’ll treasure forever, look no further. Highly recommended!

We booked 2 private tours and 1 group northern lights tour with Nico. From the time I first contacted Arctic Photo Guide when I was still home in Australia, I knew that Nico would be a good guide as soon as I received his email based on his promptness and warm and detailed messages. We booked with Nico at the beginning of August for the second half of September for the private tour of the Kvaløya fjords and for the aurora hunt. Right from the start he proved to be helpful (he already had some dates scheduled but he modified them based on our requests) and punctual in the organization. When we then met him, some truly intense days began. The private fjord tour was organized very well, he took us to little-known places without crowds and made us discover the true essence of these places. For lunch he took us to the shore of a lake where the silence was almost deafening. With Nico nothing is left to chance. The following evening we had the aurora hunt in a group of six people and also here it was truly fantastic. With his off-road vehicle, unique in Tromsø (with wheels as tall as me!), you can go anywhere. He took us to the beach with a view of a fjord and the aurora was already visible, but with the reflections on the water it was an incredible thrill. Nico took photos, always asked if we wanted any, and managed the timing in a fantastic way. At the end of the evening he drove us back to our apartment and we agreed that if the weather cleared up the next day, maybe we could try to go on another hunt. The following afternoon I received the fateful message and we set off again. Another incredible place, in a different fjord in an opposite area, but what a sight! Pink aurora dancing above us. Truly fantastic organization in everything. If you are looking for a guide, he is the right person, without a doubt.

Artic photo guide experience to chase the northern lights was amazing. Before booking he was very upfront and honest and answered any questions we had. Weather was not looking so great the day of our trip but he was constantly checking all data to give us the best possible chance of seeing the lights. He took us to a great location by a lake , gave us suits to put on for warmth, gave us hot drinks, hot soup and desserts while we watched and waited. Soon after the clouds cleared and we had an amazing show of the Northern Lights for a good hour. Everything was perfect. We learned so much about the area and the lights during the evening from Nico.

This was truly one of the best experiences I’ve ever had with a guide. This was our third attempt at seeing the Aurora for a birthday trip, and it did not disappoint! Nico was friendly, professional, and an absolute vibe. You can tell he loves what he does; he went above and beyond to make sure we saw the lights. After driving for a couple of hours, our first stop landed us right on the border of Finland and Sweden. We were so lucky to see the Aurora, and it was absolutely incredible. It is definitely an experience where you want to stay present and just let the photographer do their thing. I honestly cried multiple times—it was an unforgettable night. I’ve already recommended Nico to all my colleagues, friends, and family, and I can’t wait to book my next tour with him!

Nicola's tour was recommended to me after extensive research using Gemini - he was listed as having the best photography-first tour in Tromso, and I whole heartedly agree! My friend and I had an absolute blast - despite the long travel time into/out of Finland, Nico did everything he could to position us someplace we could see the lights without disturbing others and having our own special experience. Although he did not have a group tour scheduled this day, he pulled together a small group on his day off at my request - truly went above and beyond to accommodate us before, during, and after the trip. I can't wait to go on another one of Nico's tours next year and learn more from him about photographing the northern lights. His photos were awesome, and he also helped with my camera settings. This is a must-do tour in Tromso (and with a tasty dinner treat also!)

We went out with Nico on the 27th of March and we had the best time! Nico is a really friendly guy he knows his stuff and you can see how passionate he is about his job and the northern lights! We was so lucky to have an amazing show that lasted hours he took some amazing photos of the lights and of me with the lights they are way better than any of the photos I took and will be great to look back on and show family and friends. I really enjoyed the tour and the fact that Nico was just as excited to see the lights as I was made it even better. I would 100% recommend going with Arctic photo guide (Nico) it was a 10 out of 10 experience.
