It’s been about a week since my husband and I took Giacomo cooking class and we talked about it everyday since! Giacomo taught us all about the importance of the ingredients you are cooking with and how that truly makes the dish. We have already started using the knowledge Giacomo gave us to find the right ingredients to make the gnocchi that we can’t stop thinking about! Aside from that the kindness and care that is shown from Giacomo and his wife Christina makes you feel like family. They even take pictures of you so you can have those as memories but don’t have to worry about it yourself! If you are looking for a cooking class in Montepulciano this is the one.
Thank you both so much. There's no better compliment than knowing those gnocchi followed you home — and that you're already seeking out the right ingredients to do them justice. That's really the heart of it: the quality of what you start with is everything. It was a true pleasure for Cristiana and me to welcome you, and we're glad the photos took that worry off your hands so the day could just be yours. We'd be delighted to cook with you again one day in Montepulciano. Giacomo & Cristiana
We thoroughly enjoyed our cooking class with Giacomo. His knowledge and passion for quality ingredients are evident, yet he shares it in a wonderfully approachable way. His wife Cristiana, who runs the class alongside him, was equally lovely. We especially enjoyed hearing stories about his grandmother's cooking traditions and how he has brought them into modern technique. The kitchen and cooking areas were impeccably clean and the class was exceptionally well run and professional. One thing to note: the class is long, with about 3–3.5 hours of standing before you sit down to eat. Be sure to have lunch beforehand, as the dinner portion doesn't come until the final hour or so!
Thank you for this lovely review! Hearing that my passion for quality ingredients, for all the little details came through in an approachable way means a lot to me. It is exactly what I aim for every class! I am also truly glad you appreciated how I bring my grandmother's traditions into a modern approach. And we are equally proud that the cleanliness and professionalism of the whole experience did not go unnoticed — these are things we care about deeply. And thank you for mentioning the meal — having a good meal beforehand is actually the advice I always share with my guests, so they can give their full attention to the cooking and arrive at the tasting in the best possible way. We hope to welcome you back one day! Grazie! 🙏 Giacomo & Cristiana
Had a excellent time, very informative.
Thank you so much! Being informative is something we always strive for — but what truly matters to us is that every guest feels genuinely at home, like a guest of our family, even just for a few hours. Knowing you had an excellent time is the best reward we could ask for. Grazie! 🙏
Overall it was a pleasant, clean and organized experience. However, it lacked warmth and charm, it was too technical and formal. Not very hospitable, we thought we would prepare one dish and enjoy while sipping the wine, we had to stand, listen, watch, and prepare only a small potion of the food. After 5 hours everything was done, felt rushed out. Only 3 in attendance and we all had the same conclusion Definitely a disappointment and overpriced.
Over sixteen years of classes — this is our first review with a negative rating. We'll let that speak for itself. Thank you for taking the time to leave a review, and for your honesty in describing the experience as clean, well organized, and in acknowledging that the food and wine were "pleasant". We also appreciated the sincere words of appreciation you shared with us directly at the end of the class — which made this review quite unexpected. We do want to address a few points respectfully. The structure of this class — combining hands-on preparations with Chef demonstrations — is described in full detail on every platform where it is listed. Seven preparations, a five-course tasting, and five hours together are what we promise, and what we delivered. I would like to conclude, with the same respect, that a small group is precisely when we have the most flexibility to adapt the experience to individual expectations — and we would have done so gladly, had we known. An unhappy guest is the hardest part of this work for us, but without honest, direct and prompt communication, there is simply no way for us to intervene. Giacomo
We had a wonderful time with Giacomo! We joined him for a class during our honeymoon and enjoyed every minute. The food was incredible! He taught us so many tips and tricks about Italian cooking, and the importance of quality ingredients! Him and his wife were very welcoming and generous! We highly recommend booking a cooking class with Giacomo!
Grazie mille Cassie! 🙏 It was a joy having you both here in Tuscany for such a special moment. We hope the flavors of Le Caggiole stay with you — and that you'll visit us again someday! 🌿🥂
This is a very informative and comprehensive class. It is very well organized and you will leave being able to prepare these dishes at home. The food was delicious and the wine pairings superb. The setting is so beautiful and we enjoyed every minute of the experience.
Grazie MIlle!!! 🤗
I couldn’t recommend this cooking class enough! Giacomo and his wife Cristiana were so friendly and welcomed us into their home with open arms. Giacomo is a magnificent chef and sommelier - the food he produced (and taught us to produce) was exceptional and the meal we enjoyed at the end was only made better by the superb wine pairings. I can honestly say this is the best meal I have ever had. Giacomo helped guide us through the preparation of the dishes with expertise and shared the wisdom his grandmother had passed on, as well as his learnings along the way. Please do not let this experience pass you by - you won’t regret it!
Grazie MIlle!!! 🤗
we recently attended a cooking class in the picturesque landscape of Tuscany, and it was certainly an experience that we won't forget. The beautiful property set the perfect backdrop for a culinary adventure, with stunning views of rolling hills that made us feel like we were in a postcard. The instructor was undeniably professional and knowledgeable, showcasing a range of cooking techniques that were impressive. However, I must admit that the class might have been a bit advanced for our technical expertise. At times. One aspect to consider is the instructor’s strict demeanor. He communicated his expectations clearly from the outset, emphasizing punctuality and even mentioning he had plans later that afternoon and if we showed up late we would be considered a no show.—an indication of his no-nonsense approach. While I appreciate professionalism, I found it somewhat stifling at times. There were moments where he seemed frustrated with my attempts, which led to a somewhat tense atmosphere. It felt like we were there to meet a high standard rather than to enjoy ourselves. If you’re seeking a serious and structured cooking class with an expert who takes his craft very seriously, this class would likely suit you well. However, if you’re hoping for a lighthearted experience filled with laughter and camaraderie, you might want to look elsewhere. Overall, the beautiful setting and quality of instruction were noteworthy, but the intensity of the experience made it less enjoyable for my group and me.
The recommendation to be punctual is a demonstration of respect for me, my staff, and especially the other guests (you didn't book a private experience). Punctuality and respect for the program and its timing are a demonstration of my respect for all my guests. In just two words, this is good manners. I should point out, however, that we started almost 30 minutes early and you left almost 30 minutes after the scheduled time. The program is well-described. I'm sorry you booked something carelessly, and I'm sorry you feel this experience is beyond your capabilities. Are you perhaps underestimating yourselves? I assure you that most of my guests have never cooked anything elaborate before coming here: the hundreds of honest reviews you find online demonstrate their appreciation for what we do here. The "Traditional 5-Course Menu" is the most complete, professional experience, and appreciated by all our guests. Am I a demanding teacher? Probably yes: I like all my guests to be able to make the same dishes once they get home. This is a "must-have"here, this is what our guests appreciate the most! I admit that yesterday's cooking class was perhaps my most difficult ever (in over 16 years of experience), considering that I had guests in front of me who kept yawning (anything but a tense atmosphere!) and complaining every time I asked them to wash their hands to maintain high hygiene standards. We are very careful about hygiene! This attitude was present in my audience all the time: you'll agree with me that what I did with you was exceptional! I'm surprised (perhaps not that much) that you changed your mind about this experience: these weren't your comments when we said goodbye. Thank you anyway for the time you dedicated to me and for the appreciation you showed us when you were here, which is also evident in this review of yours, which unfortunately penalizes us.
Remarkable in every way! The Chef patiently explained his philosophy of cooking using simple ingredients to highlight the food we prepared and ate. The history of the place goes back several centuries and it’s evident in the pride he shows in his craft. Fantastic experience and absolutely worth the time and money.
Grazie!!! 🤗
We had an amazing experience! Giacomo is a great teacher, he really knows his skill. He tells you about his history, how he learned to cook, and very usefull information on how to select the right products for the dishes. I loved their philosophy on how to create simple but amazing dishes by using the best quality products and how to recognize good quality products. We did the 5 course dinner, with local appatiser, fluffy gnocchi, surprising pappardelle, chianina beef and tiramisu. All paired with local wines. Great mix of cooking on your own and watching and learning from the chef. I can't recommend it enough. Highlight of our trip!
Grazie!!! 🤗
