Overall a great experience. The waterfall stop and Rio Celeste were gorgeous but the best part for us was the jungle tour with guide Obed. His knowledge of the area was supreme and his ability to find and id the birds we saw and heard was incredible. He asked what we wanted to see and only failed in finding us a jaguar, which is probably for the best. 3 different toucans, 3 motmots and a slew of others were added to our life list. The only oddity and reason for the 4 stars was the order of operations. It doesn’t make sense to me to go swimming at the waterfall, then drive wet to the 2 hour walk in the jungle, then go to another wet event. As birdwatchers it would be better to have gone to the jungle first wearing dry clothes, then do the stops for lunch and the wet events after. Overall satisfying as a tour!
Thank you very much for taking the time to share your experience with us. We’re truly happy to hear that you had a great time overall and that you enjoyed the waterfall stop and Río Celeste. It’s especially wonderful to know that the jungle tour with Obed was the highlight of your day he really is an exceptional guide, and we’re thrilled that his knowledge and bird-spotting skills helped you add so many incredible species to your life list (and perhaps it’s best the jaguar stayed hidden!). We also sincerely appreciate your thoughtful feedback regarding the order of activities. The itinerary is structured this way for a very important reason: if we do not visit the waterfall first, it will be closed by the time we return from the rainforest, and we would miss the opportunity to enjoy it altogether. Since the waterfall is located along the route to the rainforest, starting there ensures guests can experience it. For this reason, we always recommend bringing extra clothing, and we do note this clearly in the tour description. We also make sure to inform guests in advance that all locations have restrooms and changing facilities available, so everyone can be as comfortable as possible throughout the day. Thank you again for your kind words and valuable input. We’re very glad the tour was satisfying overall and hope to welcome you back for another adventure in the future!
We had a blast with our private driver Genaro. Highly recommend him. And this tour. Blew us away. And the fact we got to see everything and learn so much about Costa Rica.
Great tour! Miller was the best , highly recommended .Will book with this company again . Thank you!
The Tenorio National Park is where the main features of Rio Celeste are viewable. It is easy to get to it and the entry fee is reasonable, and inexpensive if you are a national. It is mostly an easy hike along well established trails, except the stairs at the waterfall. The heat and humidity make the decent and climb back up seem much more taxing than you might think. There is an incredible view of the light blue waterfall. We also enjoyed several views of the river, a bubbling pool, and the incredible surrounding jungle and wildlife. It is absolutely incredible to see such a vibrant blue color contrasting the green jungle. It is well worth the visit.
We were brought to visualize and be informed about many plants and animals local to CR. Our driver did an amazing job in explaining and taking pictures of everything of interest. He was extremely friendly and worth every penny.
Great 10 hour day. Our tour guide Gabriel was the best. He was so helpful and knowledgeable about the areas we traveled to. He was extremely flexible if we wanted to stop and hit a couple souvenir shops. We went to the Catarata Llanos del Cortes waterfall. Spectacular. There a a couple guys there that will do some fancy and incredible photos and videos using your phone. They don't ask for a tip, but you would be a creep if you didn't pay them. The videos they make are creative and fun. We swam in the waterfall, then headed to the Volcanoes. The scenery is fantastic. On our way, Gabriel stopped at a stand where they were selling fruit and breads. He purchased some pineapple for us. No kidding, there is no pineapple I have ever tasted that was as sweet and juicy as this one. I purchased a flat bread made with a honey coating. It was called elephant ear bread because it resembles that. What a treat. So delicious. We ate it in the van, then on our way back, had to stop and purchase more, it was so dang good. We went and swam in the blue river. The most beautiful river I have ever seen. A slight smell of sulfur, but that is to be expected since it is from the volcanoes. Next we ate a delicious meal at a family restaurant. We had a choice of meats. The food was so good, and the pineapple juice was the best. We then headed to the nature walk. Our guide there was able to spot and point out glass, red eyed, and poison dart frogs as well as a eyelash pit viper. We also saw enormous squirrels, and a big sloth and small sloth. Our guide also had a great scope to point out Toucans and gray hawks. We saw the smallest bees and leaf cutter ants. Our guide also took some great pics for us with our cameras. I would highly recommend this tour. It does not disappoint. There is not a lot of strenuous hiking with this tour. It was quite relaxing and informative.
Our tour guide Miller was great! He was so friendly and knowledgeable, and he made an effort to learn what we were interested in seeing. The different sites we saw were very special, and everyone we encountered was kind and professional. I would definitely recommend!
We had a fantastic day with Oved and Johnny. They wonderful guides, very knowledgeable and extremely pleasant. Oved helped me with my camera as he is an avid photographer. (Im still waiting for him to send me his pics of the day though! LOL) We saw monkeys, sloths, birds, frogs , snakes, waterfall, blue river, and we had the most fantastic local lunch! It was a great day and we highly recommend this trip!
I toured the Rio, Celeste rainforest, and was able to see sloths, poisonous, frogs, and many plants. Also saw the waterfall which was spectacular. Diego of Amer made my tour arrangements for me and was extremely helpful. I highly recommend this.
The tour guide, Eddie Rojas was fantastic and knowledgeable and made the trip. The sloth/jungle tour was (too) short. The waterfall was neat. The river wasn’t great. Lunch was good.
