After our Nile Cruise and visit to Dendera Temple, we continued on to Siwa Oasis, which ended up being one of the most unique parts of our trip in Egypt. The drive from Cairo is long, but it was well organized. Before traveling, we checked with Egypt Rest Tours (ERT) about flying to Siwa. They looked into all possible options, but there were no flights available during our dates. The road trip itself was comfortable and included stops in Alexandria and the El Alamein Museum, which helped break up the journey. A real highlight was staying at Adrère Amellal Eco-Lodge, arranged by Egypt Rest Tours. It’s one of those places that’s hard to describe until you experience it. There is no electricity in the rooms, and everything is lit by candles and lanterns at night. It creates a very calm, quiet atmosphere that feels completely disconnected from modern life. The rooms are built in traditional Siwan style with natural materials, and there are no TVs or modern distractions. The food is fresh, local, and very well prepared. We visited the Temple of the Oracle of Amun, which is a short but interesting stop with strong historical significance. We also walked through the local Siwa market, which is small but authentic. We found local dates, olive oil, and traditional clothing—simple but nice souvenirs. Lunch at Abdu Restaurant was very local and straightforward, serving traditional Siwan food and grilled dishes. One of the nicest stops was Fetnas Island at sunset. The view over the water with the colors in the sky was really beautiful. We had some warm local drinks and fresh fruit and just relaxed—it was one of the most peaceful moments of the trip. We also visited the famous Salt Lakes, where you can float very easily because of the high salt level. It’s a fun and unusual experience. Definitely bring swim goggles—the salt is very strong. We stopped at Cleopatra’s Spring, a natural freshwater spot that’s good for a short break. Sandboarding on the dunes was surprisingly fun and turned out to be one of the more enjoyable activities in Siwa. The highlight of the day was the desert safari at sunset. Driving through the dunes was incredible, and we ended the evening with a traditional Bedouin dinner in the desert. At night, the sky was completely clear and full of stars—one of the best night skies we’ve ever seen. This whole trip to Egypt was actually a birthday gift from my husband, which made it even more special. Egypt really surprised us with how diverse it is—from Cairo and the Nile Cruise to ancient temples and then the quiet beauty of Siwa. On the way back to Cairo, we stopped in Marsa Matruh and had seafood at Magdy Seafood, which was fresh and a great final stop before returning. Overall, Siwa was one of the most memorable parts of our trip. It has a great mix of nature, culture, and simple adventure, and the stay at Adrère Amellal made it even more unique. We also appreciated how Egypt Rest Tours (ERT) handled the planning and logistics throughout the trip.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Siwa was one of the biggest surprises of our trip. I expected beautiful scenery, but I did not expect such a peaceful and unique feeling. The desert landscapes, quiet evenings, and local atmosphere created a completely different experience from the busy cities. Our stay at Shali Resort made the visit even more enjoyable. It was the kind of place where you slow down and appreciate the moment. The guides shared many stories, but what I loved most was how they connected history with the places around us.
