This island gave me exactly what I wanted: dramatic scenery, ocean views, and a sense that I was somewhere a little less polished and a little more real. I hired a driver, took my time, and didn’t try to see everything. That was the right move. Kelingking Beach was incredible, but I also loved just watching the coastline during the drive. It’s rough around the edges, but that’s part of its charm.

We had one of those classic “worth the effort” experiences here. The fast boat was fine, the transfer on the island was the rough part, but the scenery was just spectacular. Broken Beach looked amazing and was probably my personal favorite because it felt unique and easier to enjoy than the more crowded spots. Kelingking is still a must-see, though. Just be realistic about how physically tiring the day can be.

What I liked most about Nusa Penida is that it still feels a little wild. Bali can feel very polished and busy, but Penida has this rougher, more dramatic energy. It’s not always comfortable and the roads can be frustrating, but the landscapes are incredible. We loved the west side route and honestly could have spent more time at each stop. One day felt just slightly too rushed for how beautiful it was.

I went during a quieter week and that made a big difference. The famous spots still had people, but it never felt overwhelming. Kelingking Beach was absolutely stunning and one of those places that really does look even better in person. The roads were still rough, of course, but with fewer crowds the whole day felt calmer and more enjoyable. Timing really matters here, and I’m glad I got lucky.

This was one of the highlights of my Bali vacation. The combination of snorkeling and island sightseeing made the trip feel complete. Every stop offered something special, from marine life to breathtaking cliffs. Great service, good organization, and unforgettable memories.
