5.5 km of a beautiful kayaking hike at the end of the day in the bays of Telegraph Cove. Stella and Morgan were outstanding and warm guides. They shared a lot of information about the local marine wildlife and flora. They adapted very well to the group's pace. Thank you for this wonderful activity during our trip to Vancouver Island. Relaxing and peaceful

Brad (27 years of experience) and Morgan were absolutely wonderful. The experience was calm and relaxing even though it was slightly raining, we did not even feel it. The pace was perfect for beginners like us. We toured around little islands, saw a few seals, chatted and just took in the amazing landscape/scenery. Highly recommend it.

Thank you so much for the kind words! We’re really glad to hear you enjoyed your time on the water with Brad and Morgan. Even with a bit of rain, it’s great to know the experience still felt calm and relaxing for you. Exploring the little islands and spotting seals is always special, and we’re happy you got to take it all in at a comfortable pace. We really appreciate the recommendation and hope to see you out on the water again sometime!

Unforgettable Orca Encounter

We had the most magical first day on Vancouver Island, starting with a 2-hour evening kayak where we shared the water with dolphins and orcas. Our guide, Brie, was amazing. We were slightly late and she still let us join, which we were so grateful for. It turned into a truly unforgettable experience—we were surrounded by multiple orcas chasing dolphins, and one swam right past my mum’s kayak. A real dream-come-true moment for her. Brie even said it was the best 2-hour kayak she’d been on. I cannot recommend this activity and tour operator enough—book early so you don’t miss out! Visited late August 2025.

Paddle at Telegraph Cove.

Paddling along the coast was enjoyable, but having been with a different kayaking company a few weeks later in southern Vancouver Island, I do think aspects of the trip at Telegraph Cove could be better. For instance I prefer a kayak to myself and this wasn’t offered. Our guide seemed a little bored by the whole thing (but I’ve been told that’s a Gen Z thing ). We stayed very close to the coastline rather than anything adventurous. Overall I had a good time but perhaps it could have been better.

Thank you for joining us and for your valuable feedback, Matt! We're glad that you enjoyed the adventure in this unique area. In regards to hugging the coastline and the use of tandem kayaks, these are both due to safety. These are Class 3 waters here in the Johnstone Strait so these decisions have been made to prioritize the safety of our guests, although we do understand that more experienced paddlers typically prefer single boats. We're sorry to hear the energy wasn't high on the part of our guide, we certainly aim to offer an excellent adventure so we do appreciate the feedback and will do our best to improve. We hope you had a lovely visit to the North Island!

Weather too poor

Did not go ahead due to weather. Not informed until we arrived, although we were told we should have had an email (never arrived). Star taken off. Appreciate the fact that the company have safety at heart.

事業者からの返答

Thanks for the review Nathan, apologies once again that we weren't able to go ahead with the tour due to the weather. As winds change rapidly in the area we can't always give much notice but try to always give guests a warning the day before. We hope that you were able to enjoy your time on land that day and had an overall lovely time in the North Island during your visit.

Relaxing evening along the coast

We don't have much kayaking experience but the 2 hour trip was just right. Our guide Jane did a great job of checking we were comfortable, the spray skirts correctly sealed, and explained a lot about the nature and the wildlife. We paddled along the coast in the calm evening waters and it was a super relaxing, pleasurable experience. A porpoise was swimming close to our boat and we saw a sea otter wrapped up in kelp for bedtime. Jane was especially careful to give the animals the space they deserve. Can definitely recommend this trip, even for those people who like us don't have much experience in kayaking.

Amazing Experience

Amazing experience! Laura was an awesome guide and we saw seals, bears, eagles, and underwater wildlife. Even though it was raining, we were kept as dry as possible with the kayak skirts.

Thank you for joining us, for the feedback, and the five stars! We're happy to hear the weather conditions didn't affect your enjoyment of the tour. You were certainly immersed in wild wilderness. We're glad you got to see all sorts of interesting creatures that evening. Should you ever be back in Beautiful British Columbia, we'd love to paddle with you again!

An unforgettable, peaceful time on the water we will cherish!

Given the recent fire in Telegraph Cove, we didn’t know how the area and the local businesses would recover this June. When we arrived, it was abundantly clear everyone in the area including the North Island Kayak team had pulled together in preparation for this tourism season. We were impressed by how well organized the experience was and how smoothly everything flowed! With our guides, Ashton and Jane, we felt safe the entire time on the water even though neither of us had a great deal of experience with kayaks (other than on a calm lake). I was unsure how much paddling would be involved, but after the initial push to get out of the cove, things slowed down, and we moved more carefully and at a slower pace as when we began observing the wildlife. As the sun slowly descended toward the horizon we could see ghostly jellyfish dancing below the water. Farther from the marina, we saw a humpback whale surfacing to breathe and even had an opportunity to spend time with an otter playing in a nearby kelp forest. Steller sea lions, who were likely curious to our presence, also began poking their heads up out of the water as if to say, “Hello!” On the journey back, our guides spotted a nest with a fledgling bald eagle, stretching her wings high above in a nest, while her parents stood sentinel. My wife and I have never been in the kayak quite like the one that was provided. It had a rudder, places for feet, etc. So learning how to set everything was very new for us. For example, I think I set my seat back too low, and eventually, my back began to hurt during the trip. At one point, I asked Jane how I should have set it prior to our leaving. Genuinely concerned about my comfort, Jane lended me her coat without question to help support my back as we paddled back to Telegraph Cove. I cannot say enough about our guides. Ashton and Jane had an impressive knowledge of the local flora and fauna, and, perhaps more importantly, shared a deep appreciation for the area. I felt comfortable asking any questions I had during our time on the water, and their enthusiasm and passion was contagious. The North Island is truly something special, and interacting with nature like this, at a slower pace, was a truly spiritual experience for my wife and was one of our favorite, if not our favorite, part of our trip to the island!

First, I express our thanks for your thoughtful and beautiful words. We are so grateful to have welcomed you on tour, and only wish it could have been for more time. We truly appreciate your observation regarding our efforts since the fire. It hasn't been the easiest season, and our guests' understanding and flexibility goes a long way. As this is always a top priority, it is great to hear you felt our guides worthy of entrusting your safety. How wonderful that they were able to provide some added comfort as well. The mystical picture you've painted of ghostly jellyfish captures the majesty (and often ominous feeling) of the surrounding scenery. It seems you truly felt the personalities of each creature present. It is moving to hear how connected you both felt to this amazing corner of the world. The remote nature of the location is absolutely worth the journey, much like the tour itself, being all about soaking up the enjoyment of each paddle stroke, each breath of truly fresh air. We hope you learned more about the world and its inhabitants, and felt inspired to help protect it. Should you ever return to Vancouver Island, we will be more than happy to welcome you once more.

Triple whale breach

We were a small group of 5 and our guide Tobin. Tobin was awesome, very friendly and knowledgeable. We spotted some whale action early off and decided to go check it out as a group. We were all very glad we did when we ended up coming about 20-30 feet away from some whales that breached beside us. Best tour ever! Once in a lifetime experience! Would go back again in a heartbeat and recommend. Thanks again to Tobin for a great job.

事業者からの返答

Wow, what an incredible experience! We are so happy to hear that you spent such a special time with the whales! Thanks for shouting out Tobin, it goes a long way. We absolutely hope you'll be back or at least keep paddling for future adventures :)
