We elected to see the wineries South of Lisbon in Setubal. Pedro was our guide and picked us up @ hotel. Pedro is such a great representative of Portugal and his love for the country, wineries, and people is apparent. He scheduled 2 distinctly different wineries (older traditional and more modern). The wines and information at both were very interesting and new for us due to different grapes. Moscatel in particular is grown in this region. Pedro taught us a lot about Portugal and the culture. I highly recommend him to any guest in Lisbon area

Not what we expected
Our expectations were to be going to vineyards in a rural setting, this trip did not include vineyards, also the wine offerings were very limited to 5 tastings in total over 2 wineries. Additionally we were unaware that the tour at one of the two wineries was more about art exhibitions than winery.

Anna is as the best tour...
Anna is as the best tour guide I’ve ever had. She helped us with our mobility issues. Provided a history of the regions and wine. Best day we had. Would definitely book her as a guide again.

Visiting both wineries in...

Nice experience but don’t recommend this tour guide.
The experience itself is planned wonderfully by viator. However, our guide, Ana caused the tour to be unpleasant. From sharing with us that she was having stomach issues, rushing us at each winery (we were not on schedule due to her tardiness at pick up), insensitive comments about the “illegal immigrants”, and the nauseating stench in her car not what we expected. As 3 females from NYC spending our first time in Portugal, we would’ve appreciated a more thoughtful, socially conscious, and sensitive tour guide.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are pleased to hear that you found the experience itself well planned, but we are genuinely sorry that some aspects of the tour affected your overall impression.
Regarding the timing, we would like to clarify that Ana was trying to manage the schedule because the group had spent considerably longer than expected at the first winery. She was concerned about ensuring that the guests would not miss the following visit, and this may unfortunately have come across as rushing the group. Her intention was to keep the programme on track and ensure that all the scheduled elements could still be completed.
As for the other aspects we will try to clarify what really happened in order to resolve for future knowledge, doesn`t reflect the sensitivity we expect from our guides when discussing such subjects.
We also regret that Ana mentioned her personal health issue during the tour and we will address these points with the guide.
We are particularly sorry that these circumstances affected your experience.
Thank you again for bringing these concerns to our attention. Your feedback will be taken seriously and used to improve the experience we provide.

Half Day Wine Tasting from Lisbon
We had a great half-day trip with David.
We were picked up at our Lisbon hotel by David, who was a great host with excellent English.
We stopped at 2 wineries and at each we had a tour of the winery and then tried a variety of lovely wines.
At the second winery, we were given the option to upgrade the tasting (extra wine and a cheese board). I'd really recommend the upgrade (just EUR10 pp) for the amazing cheese alone (local sheep's cheese called Serra Da Estrella)
If you like trying local wines, this trip is definitely for you.

Wine Tour

Thrilled by the traditional winery!
My first muscatel. Our guide, Ana, called it "dangerous wine," but after just a sip, we knew what it meant! I'm also thrilled by the winery's old tradition. Lucky note that I encountered a bat in the cellar!? Not only was the talk fun and friendly, but the driving was safe from start to finish and very thoughtful. It was a fun day of travel!

Bucket List Tour!
This tour is a great value. Luis picked us up at our hostel, drove us to the winery, and explained some of the history of the city while he drove us. The guides at both wineries are very knowledgeable and kind. They showed us around the winery and answered any questions we had. They were patient and were fluent in English. The wine tasting was a great way to finish off the tour. 10/10.
