We were met on time at the stated meeting point by our guide Nicha, and enjoyed a really interesting tour with lots of different types of food and drink, with not too much walking (which was appreciated as we were not used to lots of walking in the heat, coming from the UK!).
We learned a lot about other parts of Thai culture too. Fantastic and highly recommended!

Great food tour!
Great selection of food with a nice explanation of each of the dishes. Warat was our guide. He was super chill an very welcoming, I’m glad he was the one who got to show and teach us about Northern Thai cuisine. Would definitely recommend to anyone who comes to Chiang Mai

Delicious food - great tour guide!
We had an incredible time - we had the opportunity to try some amazingly delicious food and our guide Warat was really information and sooo friendly! There was only my husband and I on the tour and Warat answered all our questions about the food and Chiang Mai - this was our first time to Chiang Mai but it certainly won't be out last.
Oh, and this was our 3rd Secret Food tour (the others were in Melbourne and KL) - I would highly recommend them!

Great food tour!
The tour was great - A large selection of foods and generous portions! Nicha was an excellent guide. She knows Chiang Mai well and had lots of great suggestions for sites to see, best places to get Khao Soi, places to shop and a spa recommendation! I would definitely recommend this tour. No need to book in advance…it doesn’t seem to fill up and there is a no refund policy.

Brilliant food and amazing guide!
Absolutely wonderful! Our guide Varisa was so friendly and knowledgeable. She showed us little places along the way (pointing out temples and museums to visit later) and explained all the dishes so well. The food was fantastic and it was so nice to try Chiang Mai and northern Thai specialties. Would absolutely recommend!

Disappointing
We only went to five stops, not ten. Guide did not tell us about culture, history, locations. Only really spoke when answering our questions.

This tour is mainly designed around five food stops, and each stop offers several tastings that add up to more than ten dishes overall. That structure has been very well received by many guests who enjoy having a variety of flavors across fewer locations instead of rushing from one stop to the next. It keeps the pace comfortable and gives everyone time to really enjoy what they’re eating rather than checking several different venues.
Your note about the guiding style has also been shared internally. Some groups prefer a conversational approach where the guide focuses on answering questions and giving insights whenever something catches the group’s interest, while others prefer a more continuous commentary throughout the tour. We are always happy to fine tune that balance so every guest feels fully engaged. Reviews often mention how much they enjoyed learning about Chiang Mai’s food scene and daily life from our guides, so we will continue making sure that experience stays consistent.
That said, we do hope that the food itself and the walk through Old Town left you with some good memories. There is so much culinary heritage in Chiang Mai and sharing that with guests is something we take pride in. Food tour with Varisa
Excellent food tour around Chiang Mai from Varisa. Tried so many tasty dishes that I wouldn't have tried otherwise. Very knowledgeable and friendly. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting!

Highly recommended
Our guide was very lovely and friendly and knowledgeable. She adjusted well to having just two of us on the tour. She shared lots of information about the area, Northern Food, and living in Chiang Mai. We tasted many delicious local dishes in 5 different venues. Highly recommended.

Another Great Experience with Secret Food Tours!
This is a fantastic tour and great way to try a wide variety of delicious food! Varisa is a wonderful guide - friendly, helpful and a lot of fun! As a bonus, she offered suggestions on other things I should do/places to shop while in Chiang Mai. This was much appreciated.
This was my 3rd time going on a Secret Food tour (also did them in Tokyo and Hanoi) and I will continue to seek them out on my travels. They are consistently a great company to work with and offer a well thought out and yummy tour!
