Hi Robert I`m sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your experience with us, it is very rare that we receive complaints. However, the information you have provided is not correct as I dealt with the call from your group that morning, and you certainly did not arrive at 6.48am and neither did we just ignore you. Yes, the boat would have been on the water at 6.48 as the cruise was supposed to depart at 6.45, the reason he was still there though until 6.52 before moving away, was because we were waiting for your group and trying to contact you. Also, after you missed your cruise, I offered your group a free cruise on our next scheduled departure which was at 10am, there were no other options available as you were leaving that evening. Now, regarding the timing - Our guide contacted me in the office at 6.50 and advised that you were not there. I tried to contact your group on the phone number provided in the online booking, which I could not get through on. I then sent a sms to the number advising the boat was about to leave and to contact us immediately. At 6.52 a reply had still not been received, and the guide was instructed by me to leave. I realised later that morning, the reason I could not contact your group was due to an incorrect number that had been put in by your group when making their own booking online. I then received a call from your group at 6.53 and you had just seen the boat going away. If we had received contact from you prior to the boat leaving, we would have arranged for it to come back and collect you after the sunrise had appeared. I know you contacted us only 8 minutes after the departure time, but sometimes people don`t even turn up. We can`t wait forever, so we do have to depart eventually if we have not received a reply from the passengers. We had waited as long as we possibly could for you to turn up. Had we not left when we did, we would not have been able to reach the sunrise viewing location on the billabong in time for the sunrise at 7am, and the passengers onboard would have missed watching it. We have a bit more flexibility with late arrivals on the other cruises but unfortunately the sunrise does not wait for us if we are running late. The number of passengers onboard the sunrise cruise you missed is not significant, as they were not running late and as such should not miss watching the sunrise on the sunrise cruise they had booked. When your group finally contacted us, I explained that we had tried to contact you and the cruise had to leave or it would have missed the actual sunrise. I could tell from the response and others in the group that I could hear in the background, that you were very unhappy and not impressed that the cruise had gone without you. I understand your frustration at watching the boat leave, but I do feel that due to missing the sunrise cruise, there was a lot of negativity brought onboard the boat when you eventually boarded the 10am cruise. I also don`t understand why you would have expected an apology from the guide when you were the ones who ran late for the sunrise cruise? He was not at fault for departing when he finally had to, but his lack of apology appears to have increased the negativity felt towards him prior to the cruise even commencing. Unfortunately, our guide also felt this after your initial confrontation with him when you arrived for the 10am cruise and it completely affected his performance operating the cruise. The information from the guide was correct, that you would have been advised to be there 10 minutes prior to the cruise. Our reservations system automatically sends out sms reminders to all passengers 2 days prior to cruises with directions to the cruise and advising to ensure they are there 10 minutes prior to the departure time. Unfortunately, you did not receive this information due to the incorrect contact number that was entered by your group when making your own online booking. I`m sorry that you missed your cruise because you were running late. I`m also sorry that we were unable to contact you, due to you providing us with an incorrect contact number. I also apologise for providing you a replacement cruise as soon as possible due to the above errors, free of charge. I`m sorry if our guide did not apologise or show enough compassion to you in the situation. However, i find your review very disappointing given the reputation of our business and the fact that the situation only occurred predominantly due to errors made that were not our fault.
