Richard is a very competent guide and gave us so much interesting and amazing information that we decided to definitely come back at some stage in order to do some other tours he is hosting. It was a perfect day in Kyoto and we will keep the memories in our hearts.

I put a lot of thought into making the day more than simply visiting the famous sights. I want to share the history, culture, and stories behind what they’re seeing. Knowing that those experiences will stay with you is the greatest compliment.

Amazing & Educational Day in Kyoto
This was a great tour to see some amazing sites and get some excellent knowledge on my first trop to Kyoto. Took this tour with Richard who was outstanding. Born & raised in Kyoto he was also well versed with the English Language to my benefit as my Japanese is severely lacking. He was able to provide so much information on everything we saw including my numerous questions on everything else regarding Kyoto in general. Fortunately & surprisingly for me, I was the only person on this tour as this tour was exceptional. One huge benefit on this tour was we took some taxis (included) between the sites which saved a lot of time that allowed us to spend more time to at each place. Also, very much enjoyed the the the part where visited the Nishiki Market to enjoy some incredible food/snacks from local vendors (also included). One more thing I enjoyed was that there was no 1 - 2 hour Shopping/Lunch Break as on some tours. I find this always to be a waste of my time especially when this tour already includes food. Thank you Richard for an awesome & informational day . So happy I chose this tour. One of the best I've had in Japan yet. (I also did the "Kyoto 5-Star Geisha Night Walk: Small-Group Authentic Experience" with Richard which was amazing. Both are Small Group Tours which I prefer. This is just my honest opinion on both tours as sometimes Trip Advisor is hard to believe. Trust me, I know. I hope this information helps.

I’m glad the structure of the day stood out to you. A lot of thought goes into how the tour flows—using taxis rather than public transportation to make the most of the time, avoiding unnecessary downtime, and keeping the focus on experiencing Kyoto rather than moving from place to place. It allows us to cover more while still having the space to go deeper at each stop.
Keeping the groups small also makes a big difference. It creates the flexibility to answer questions properly and shape the day around what you’re most interested in, rather than following a script like most other tours.

Perfectly paced tour in Kyoto
Richard is the best guide we have had, not only in Japan but all over the world. He answered all of our questions not only about the history and culture of the past but also how Japanese people live in the present times. The tour was perfectly paced! We learned so much! Also a huge bonus is that Richard speaks fluent English with no accent so you won’t have anything lost in translation. Richard also shared his insights about the remaining attractions Kyoto and area have to offer.
