Absolutely perfect...truly the only way to describe our full road to Hana day, with Derrick, and Maui Sunset Adventures. We were delayed getting into Maui by a day and a half, so our first full day on island was our Hana tour, and I cannot say enough about how wonderful it was. My husband, and three grown kids (25, 21, and 18) all had the best day. We saw all the "usual" spots, and a few off the beaten path ;). We got so many stories, and history lessons, and all around great conversation for the almost 12 hours we were with Derrick. BOOK THIS! Mahalo!

Think twice
1. Driver was late for pick up with no communication.
2. Driver ran out of gas in the middle of the tour and left us for 30 minutes.
3. We had to wait for him to get fuel. Upon returning, the scent of fuel was everywhere in the vehicle which made my children nauseous.
4. Driver continually rambled from start to finish that wasn’t relevant to the trip, over speaking guests.
5. Driver made disparaging political and religious comments.
6. Our family of 7 was crammed in a small mini van.
7. We paid for a full day and only did half a day.
Overall, the trip was an absolute headache and while we were happy to do the things we asked, we couldn’t wait for it to be over due to being so uncomfortable mentally and physically.

Months before your tour, you reached out with concerns about spending a full day in the vehicle with your family and asked if we could customize the experience without driving all the way to Hana. The day before your tour, we followed up once more to confirm whether you preferred a halfway itinerary or the full Road to Hana experience, and we planned your day according to the customized option you selected.
The concerns raised during the refund request were different from what is shared in this review. Those concerns, along with our complete message history, were reviewed through Viator's resolution process, and Viator determined that a refund was not warranted.
We were also surprised to read the comments regarding fuel stops and your guide, as they do not reflect the experience we strive to provide or the information available to us from that day.

Road to Hana
Derrick was amazing! He made the whole experience so much fun. We had our own rental car while staying in Maui but decided to hire a driver for the Road to Hana. I wanted my husband to be able to enjoy the scenery as much as the rest of us and not worry about the drive. It was money well spent! Derrick was very knowledgeable about the history of the island. He told us several stories, myths, and legends. We traveled with a 14 and 12 year old who enjoyed the trip as well. Thank you Derrick for making the day so memorable!!

Great tour with an excellent guide
The entire experience wad fantastic. First and foremost, Derrick the tour guide is amazing, very knowledgeable on the the history of the island, and very easy to talk to. By the end of the trip it really felt like he was a part of our group. I would recommend the tour to anyone who does not want to feel rushed at the stops, and wants to have a great family trip that will be remembered forever. The schedule was very flexible and the sights are amazing.

Derrick was a fantastic...
Derrick was a fantastic tour guide. Super friendly and informative. He made it feel like we were roadtripping with a friend. He navigated the long windy road with ease and made all of us feel very comfortable and safe. The vehicle was comfortable and roomy and the snacks and drinks provided were a great addition. All the stops we made were beautiful and he made sure he set us up for success with all the must see spots. The waterfalls and views were breathtaking and the family enjoyed the fun history facts. If you are thinking about doing the road to Hana this is definitely the way to go if you want a stress free and fun tour. This is an experience that we will remember forever. 12/10 stars for Derrick.

Road to Hanna experienced
Our experienced was amazing with( Derek Johnson) our tour Guide. Being in this kind of field you need to have a very Broad understanding and a better information about History of the island and be nailed it💕and also very affordable.. I would definitely recommend this company 💕

Great Road to Hana tour - great company.
This is a lovely tour hitting all of the highlights on the road with a very knowledgeable guide, with lots of local knowledge and connections. Roomy and comfortable vehicle. The company was very easy to deal with. They were responsive to questions and flexible about pickup and guests. They even allowed me to add my grandson at the last minute! Highly recommend.
