I booked two day trips with AfriSafaris—the King’s Palace and Ethnographic Museum tour, as well as Akagera National Park (reviewed separately)—and both were absolutely fantastic experiences. My driver-guide for this tour was Samuel, who was very knowledgeable and informative, providing valuable insight into Rwanda throughout the day. At the King’s Palace, a local guide was outstanding. We visited a replica of the traditional royal palace, where the guide offered excellent insight into its structure and cultural significance. We then visited the royal cows before concluding with a tour of the colonial-style palace, during which the guide shared the history of Rwanda’s last king along with broader context about the country’s past. We also visited the Ethnographic Museum, which has an impressive collection of fascinating artifacts. We stopped for lunch at Stafford Coffee Shop, a great place to take a break when traveling in that part of Rwanda. The vehicle was very comfortable and well equipped, with Wi-Fi and a cooler stocked with beverages. This is an excellent tour for travelers looking to add historical and cultural depth to their trip. Overall, it was an amazing experience, and I wouldn’t hesitate booking this tour again or consider AfriSafaris’ other tour options.
