This tour was the favorite thing I did during a two week tour of Vietnam.Ninh Binh is spectacular in its beauty, the vibe of the town is very boho - much different than any other place we visited. This tour in particular gave us a great overall taste of the area. We visited a charming local rice farmer and learned about traditional farm life. We did a challenging hike up to temples with unbelievable views. We bike rode through picturesque rice fields to visit a spectacular bird preserve, complete with boat ride to the natural aviary. Our 4 star hotel was gorgeous. We enjoyed Tom, our guide. The guides were very responsive to changes we needed to make regarding transportation. The boat cruise through three natural tunnels was beautiful.
Our guide Nam was great! He explained everything there was to know about Ninh Binh and Vietnam. Patient, funny and attentive he gave this excursion an unforgettable flavor! The Ninh Binh area is a must do in Vietnam, beautiful scenery, good restaurant, quality hotel, I recommend!
One day in Ninh Binh would not have been enough, so I'm glad we opted for the 2-day tour. Our guide was Nam. He took such good care of us. It only ended up being the two of us on the tour, so it was like we had our own private guide. I'm not sure if every itinerary is exactly the same, but this was our's: Day 1 - Pick up from hotel in Hanoi Old Quarter. Drive 2 hours. Stop at a local man's home for some tea, rice wine (if you wanted to try), and conversation. Hike to top of Mua Cave (pretty views, but fairly crowded). Lunch at restaurant in Tam Coc. Pick up bikes and free time at hotel (Lalita was a perfectly acceptable hotel for the night). Bike ride to the Bird Sanctuary w/boat tour (this was our favorite part of the whole trip and it's not offered on the 1-day tour itinerary). Dinner back at the hotel (we opted to eat and get a few drinks in town instead, and it was a great choice). The hotel is a short bike ride or Grab from the center of Tam Coc. Day 2 - Leisurely start around 9:30AM. Biked to local market and then around Tam Coc to some viewpoints and pagodas. We biked down this pedestrian/bike/motorcyle-only road. It was amazing. Nam was extremely knowledgeable about all of the cultural/historical spots. Lunch at local spot. Finished with stunning 2- hour boat tour at Trang An (make sure to tip the individuals that row your boat!). 2 hour drive back to Hanoi. This was a biking-centric tour. I think between the two days we probably covered 30-50km. But that can be adjusted. Nam offered a car if we weren't up for biking, but we did all of it! The biking was only on flat roads, so it was very casual. There was some uphill when we got to the bird sanctuary, but that was a small portion of the biking. We were definitely tired out by the end of the tour. Every second was well-planned. Highly recommend this tour.

Two-days long trip to Ninh Binh in October 2025 was definitely something special - the places our guide Tom brought us to see and explore were so uniquely beautiful: incredible vistas from mountain tops, caves, gardens and parks, all while boating, or hiking, or biking, or climbing hundreds of steps! Add to this mix sunny weather and a very charming, knowledgeable in his country's history and so creative photographer as Tom, and you simply can't go wrong with this tour, which was a total success overall and one of our best trips for nearly 6 weeks in Vietnam! My husband and I would wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone!

This tour exceeded my expectations. Son is an amazing tour guide - knowledgeable and funny and fluent in English. He really made the trip five stars. It was nice to be there in the morning and beat the crowds. All the food was delicious and the resort is beautiful.

We did the 2-day private tour to Ninh Binh, and it was an absolutely amazing experience. A huge thank-you to Tom, our guide, who was just perfect—friendly, knowledgeable, accommodating, and always attentive with thoughtful little touches. This trip was absolutely amazing! You’ll get to experience some of Vietnam’s most beautiful nature and genuine local culture. We visited a local farmer’s home where we saw how traditional rice wine is made, and afterwards we explored the stunning surroundings by bicycle and boat, passing through mountains, rice fields, and peaceful lakes. We were incredibly lucky to have Phil as our tour guide. He’s truly exceptional! His positive energy, knowledge, and kindness made the whole experience unforgettable. Honestly, he’s the best tour guide we’ve ever had! We can’t recommend this trip highly enough — it’s a must-do!

We had a great experience in Ninh Binh. The tour followed the intended schedule and was well organized. We saw beautiful countryside and important historical sites in Vietnam. Our tour guide, Fun, worked incredibly hard to ensure our needs were attended to (whether that be tickets, transportation plans, or food/beverages) at all times. Phil, our guide, was very knowledgeable, kind and helpful. He organised and co-ordinated our group of 6 very well. Meals were plentiful authentic Vietnamese. Tour was interesting and varied.

Absolutely amazing! We loved it. Our guide Fun was fantastic. He taught us so much, made the tour so smooth and made sure we had a great time. Also took lots of photos that we will treasure! The itinerary is great. It is pretty active! Probs around 35-40km cycling total across 2 days, and 1 hike to a viewpoint. Cannot recommend enough! The food was amazing too (plenty of it) and lovely hotel with a pool. Ninh Binh is so beautiful. Thank you Fun!
