This is an immersive Peruvian cultural experience. The Inca, Quechua lessons from nature and the medicinal properties of the encountered botany is a delight. We were treated to a special sacred ceremony by the guide’s grandfather that enriched our time. The pachamanka (in ground cooking with hot stones) was delicious and we were hands on. The leaves we gathered from the walk were then used for the dyeing process. We loved the educational demonstration of what natural sources make certain colours. We dyed our own skein of Alpaca. The day was full of surprises with making our own stuffed alpaca toy and learning a traditional dance. The enthusiasm and outpouring of sensitivity to our needs and interests was unsurpassed. This is a must do on your list of tours in Cusco!

Memorable experience and wonderful conclusion to a magical week in Peru. Edwin took fantastic care of us and guided us attentively through a nice walk with alpacas as well as spending the rest of the day with a local community cooking a delicious pachamanca and learning about natural colouring. Unique experience that welcomed us and shared a piece of their culture with us. They took their time and made us feel like part of their family. The visit included so much more than walking with alpaca and dye. I would recommend this tour to anyone who wants to take the time to experience the rural life of Peru, away from the typical tourist spots.

This was hands down my favorite experience near Cusco. It offered a rich, immersive glimpse into the deep relationship between people, plants, and the land. I helped prepare a delicious traditional meal, learned about natural dyes, and even got to try my hand at dyeing fabric myself. It felt like several cultural experiences in one and was far more meaningful than hikes I went on. Isidor, Nayda, and Jessica were incredibly generous with their knowledge and made the day truly special. I’d recommend this to anyone looking for something grounded, hands-on, and unforgettable.

It is the most spectacular and rewarding experience I have ever lived. Nayda, Ruth, Emma and Isidro THANK YOU!!! I leave with a full heart wanting to come back and recommend all my close friends. The walk is gentle, not at all demanding so the whole family can come. We learned from grasses and even insects. Lunch was a traditional lunch cooked with stones. Healthy and SPECTACULAR. The experience of dyeing the wool was AMAZING and we finished with a thank you ritual and a traditional dance. Do not miss this activity. THANK YOU!

This tour was a highlight of our trip to Peru! Walking with the alpacas was so much fun - it took them a little while to warm up to us but once they did they were so cute and sweet! The hike itself was beautiful as well, and we had a great time collecting leaves to use in the dyeing process. Learning about the steps that go into processing the alpaca wool into yarn, as well as dyeing, strengthening, and ultimately weaving with it was fascinating. This was a beautiful day and we would highly recommend this experience.

This tour blew me away! From the first moment, Edwin and his team were so professional and generous with their time, knowledge, and patience. Walking with the alpacas was SO much fun, and getting to participate in the dyeing of our own yarn alongside the local weavers was so special. Edwin even offered to take us to a local animal sanctuary we drove past - unfortunately the day ran a little long so we weren’t able to, but it was such a thoughtful offer! I would absolutely take this tour, or another of PPT’s offerings, again!
