We took the 1 hour tour with Alec. That seemed perfect in length and Alec was very interesting and engaging. Highly recommend him. The history of the structure is impressive from ground to top level as a burial chamber, fortress, chapel and Pope's living quarters.
Agnes provided an excellent overview of the mausoleum/castle/fortress. I really appreciated all the information about how the mausoleum looked and the details of the structure’s transitions. The pace was great and we had plenty of time for pictures and questions too. Highly recommend.
The tour guide was 40 minutes late and blamed it on lack of parking in the area. We all believed she either forgot or slept in. No real apology and she seemed frazzled when she arrived. Also she had trouble understanding some of the questions asked of her during the tour.
It is a tour that should be on everyone's list when visiting Rome! Great history, beautiful views of the city, and wonderful art. Our guide, Agnes, was very thorough with the history of the structure, had wonderful stories of the ancient use of the structure and was just an all-around great guide in answering questions and explaining the history. Highly recom mend!
It was a great tour. I highly recommend Alec as a guide. Really informative, without Alec would have just been wandering around not learning anything
Guide was very informative and great humor and animation made the tour very interesting.
The audio tour was interesting but hard to follow as the route inside the building had clearly changed since the audio was created. So it was a bit of a scavenger hunt to put all the audio stops together.
Definitely worth taking the tour. So much history at this site and our tour guide was very informative.
Outdoor tour, hot in summer weather. Some stairs and climbing involved. Interesting history as a prison of the Castel provided.
