アヤソフィア、正式にはアヤソフィア・グランドモスクは、トルコのイスタンブールにあるモスクであり、主要な文化的・歴史的遺産である。 以前は教会 (360–1453) と博物館 (1935–2020) であった。 東ローマ帝国がこの地に連続して建設した3つの教会建築のうち最後のもので、西暦537年に完成し、世界最大の内部空間となり、完全ペンデント式ドームを採用した最初の建物の一つとなった。 ビザンティン建築の縮図とされ 、 「 建築の歴史を変えた」と言われています。 360年の献堂から1453年まで、アヤソフィアはラテン十字軍が独自のヒエラルキーを設置した1204年から1261年の期間を除いて、ビザンティンの典礼の伝統においてコンスタンティノープルの大聖堂として機能した。 1453年にコンスタンティノープルが陥落した後は、すぐにミナレットが増築されるなど、モスクとしての役目を果たした。 跡地は1935年に博物館となり、2020年にモスクに再指定された。

A very interesting tour which covers all the important parts of the old town of Istanbul. Can our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and great fun. He was happy to answer any questions and made sure everyone in the group was involved. The tour was very interactive and overall a great day!

Our guide Aca gave us detailed information of the different churches we visited, was thoughtful about bathroom visits and was very friendly with great English

Had a great tour of the blue mosque, the Hagia Sofia and the basilica cistern. Great guide told us many stories that helped mold our understanding of these sights and their incredible histories.
