Grace was excellent and someone we would gladly recommend to others. From the very beginning, she was responsive, helpful, and offered thoughtful suggestions as we planned our day. She took the time to understand our family's interests and coordinated a tour that felt personal rather than scripted. Some of our favorite moments included visiting the Dentist House and the beautiful temple, both of which gave us a deeper appreciation for the area. One of the highlights was stopping at a small tea shop, where the family welcomed us so warmly that we felt less like customers and more like guests in their home. Thank you, Grace, for helping create such a memorable day for our family. Highly recommended.
Thank you so much for your kind review! I’m very happy and honored to hear that you all enjoyed your day in Shizuoka. It was a pleasure spending time with you and showing you some of my favorite places. Your warm words truly mean a lot to me. I hope you will visit Shizuoka again someday. Next time, please come in winter so you can see Mt. Fuji covered with snow — it is absolutely beautiful! Thank you again, and I hope to see you again! your guide Grace
We had an afternoon in Shizuoka on our cruise, and our guide picked us up at port on time and made sure to get us back on time too. We went to a beautiful waterfall, the Mt. Fuji World Heritage Centre, the Fujisan Hongu Sengen Taisha shrine, and a local tea shop. We were able to get incredible pictures of Mt. Fuji, and really enjoyed every location we went. Our guide and driver did a great job of getting us to all these places and not feeling rushed even though we only had 5 hours ashore. We traveled with my parents and our 3 kids (age range of 73 to 8) and we all had a terrific time.
Thank you so much for your lovely comment. The day of the tour was cloudy, but Mt. Fuji miraculously appeared clearly, and we were also able to enjoy the rare cap-shaped cloud on top of it. I also remember the fun interactions at the family-run tea shop. I hope these wonderful memories stay with you forever. - Kaz
We had a wonderful day in Shizuoka! We were very lucky as the day was clear and able to get a good view of Mt Fuji. Ikuyo was a wonderful guide and really explained how Shinto and Buddhism are different, but still work together. We ended the day at Miho beach, and by this time the clouds had rolled in so we could no longer see the mountain. It was still beautiful though.
Thank you very much for a nice review. I really enjoyed meeting with such nice people like you and guiding you. You listened to my guiding with interest. That was very helpful. Your words are very encouraging and have given me higher motivation. Thank you very much. - Ikuyo
We had a wonderful day tour with Shuji as our guide and Hirose as our driver. Shuji checked with us what we wanted to see and offered good suggestions. Shuji picked us up from the cruise terminal and efficiently showed us many of the sites before the crowds. Interesting information at each site including a brief history of Japan. Great for children. His stories informed us of Japanese life and were entertaining and often funny. Thank you Shuji and Hirose. Highly recommended.
Thank you for high evaluation of my guide. I am glad to know you have enjoyed the Tour. I also spent lovely day with you talking about many subjects regarding both countries. I definitely believe Mt.Fuji we saw was one of the most beautiful views. I wish your family every happiness in the future. Shuji
We had a great time with our guide Acchan. She took us wherever we wanted which included the Miho Seacost pine tree forest, a lookout/observation area to view Mt. Fuji, and a lovely Japanese garden. Definitely recommend this tour.
Thank you for your kind comments. I , too enjoyed being with you all very much. Hope you will come again and can use the ramen coupon ! Acchan
We had a wonderful day with Ikuyo and our driver. Ikuyo was very kind and sensitive to our needs and her communication was excellent.
Thank you very much for your nice comment. It was a hot and humid day. I’m sorry you had to spend uncomfortable time waiting for the ropeway under the sun. In spite of this, you listened to my guiding attentively. I feel grateful for having you as my guests. I hope you will go home with good memories. Ikuyo
Our guide, Teri was truly brilliant. He communicated in advance to ensure our trip was tailor-made for our group and it did not disappoint. He ensured that we were at the major sites in advance of the throng of cruise ship passengers and was really informative. We learned much about the culture and history of Japan and the Shimizu area. Teri could not do enough to ensure that we had a brilliant time and went out of his way to make everything ran smoothly. An excellent trip and a huge shout out to our wonderful driver.
Despite a hot and cloudy day that unfortunately hid Mount Fuji from view, we had an absolutely fantastic tour thanks to our guide, Yoshi. Yoshi met us at Port Shimizu and immediately made us feel welcome and excited for the day ahead. While the sky was not cooperative, Yoshi's knowledge more than made up for it. He shared insights about the area, its history and culture. He took us to the seacoast, walked us on the beach with the black volcanic sand and showed us the amazing bonsai trees that were hundreds of years old. Even without a glimpse of the famous peak, our day was a success because of Yoshi's expertise and kindness. When he picked us up, I needed to go to a pharmacy, where he immediately took us to and walked us through to ensure we got what we needed. We highly recommend him to anyone visiting the area.
Hi, this is YOSHI. Thank you for great review! I hope you really enjoyed that day. I wish you bring memories of Shimizu home and visit Japan again in the future. Yoshi
This was our first port of call on our recent 12-day Japan cruise, and it was a lovely and reassuring way to start our journey. Mika-san was a phenomenal tour guide: she worked with me for months ahead of time to develop an itinerary that suited our goals of 1) maximizing our time in Shimizu; 2) maximizing our ability to see Mt Fuji; and 3) minimizing our interaction with huge groups of tourists. She even sent me links to a website that has a live-cam of Mt Fuji so that I can track visiblity in the days leading up to the tour. Mika-san and our expert and friendly driver Kikuchi-san took great care of us as we drove first to Shiraito Falls (arriving well ahead of any other tour groups). We then went to the nearby Sengen Shrine and then made a final stop at the gorgeous pine-lined beach area called Miho no Matsubara. Mika-san worked with me ahead of time to select a perfect lunch spot for us, where we were the only locals. We were lucky on our day in late July to have some partial Mt Fuji sightings, although it shyly hid behind clouds for much of the day. The amount of care and attention that went into the planning of our day here was outstanding. You are in a safe and expert pair of hands with Mika-san.
Thank you so much for your kind words. I enjoyed the day with you and your friends very much and I truly appreciate what you did as my guests. Your quick replies to my emails were very helpful; on the day you created very nice atmosphere which let me speak with ease. It was your attentive listenership that encouraged good part of my knowledge to flow. To be honest I never felt so happy as a guide before —— in my previous experiences I fell into self-loathing at the end of the day because of my mistakes. I am very grateful to you. Did you get my email I sent after you departed from Shimizu? I wanted to send photos (the photo files were too large and I could not attach them to the mail, so I managed another few ways to send them) but I am not sure if information for you to get access to the photos went through. If it was not available, please let me know. I will try another way. I hope you had good days in your other destinations in Japan. Mika
We had an amazing trip with Yoshi (a brilliant guide, you will be lucky to have him as your guide). It was beautiful, culturally interesting and informative. The drive was smooth and we saw some amazing things!
Hi! This is YOSHI! Your local guide in Shimizu. Great to have chance to enjoy the tour together, also good view of Mt. Fuji from Miho Pine tree coast. Hope you enjoy the rest of your cruise in Japan! Yoshi
