Jack is an excellent guide, knowledgeable, entertaining and accommodating. Before our trip, he was very responsive to our requests and queries. He was prompt and quick in communicating with us, which was much appreciated. Travel arrangements were seamless, as we went from Shanghai to Wuzhen and Hangzhou via a private van. We enjoyed his commentaries on the various attractions, they were engaging and informative. Would highly recommend Jack to anyone who is looking for a good English-speaking guide for their China trip.

Jack is a funny guide with a sense of humour. Came to pick us up at our hotel with a cool minivan. Payed attention to all our needs. He's great!!

I travel overseas frequently and generally avoid group tours — I've been burned too many times by rushed, impersonal experiences. Jack completely changed that expectation. This was, hands down, one of the best guided tours I've had anywhere. What set Jack apart was how he went beyond just hitting the checklist of attractions. He consistently found the "extra" — a better vantage point from the top of a boat, encouraging us to try experiences we'd never have sought out on our own, and genuinely expanding how much of Hangzhou we got to explore versus a standard itinerary. The real test, though, was my teenagers. Anyone who travels with teens knows how hard it is to keep them engaged — phones down, actually present, actually curious. Jack managed it effortlessly. He was so entertaining and easy to connect with that my kids turned to me mid-tour and asked, "Dad, where did you get him?" That's the highest compliment I can give. If you're visiting Hangzhou and want a guide who treats your trip as more than a transaction — someone who's knowledgeable, engaging, and genuinely invested in making sure you see the city in a memorable way — book Jack. Worth every bit, and then some.

We had a wonderful private tour of Hangzhou with Jack and would highly recommend him, especially to families traveling with young children. Jack’s English is excellent. He speaks very fluently and confidently, and communication with him was easy from the very beginning. He contacted us in advance to coordinate the trip and was friendly, professional, and well organized throughout the day. He is very knowledgeable about Hangzhou and gave us great introductions to West Lake, Hefang Street, and especially Hu Xueyan’s Former Residence. This was one of the highlights of our trip. Instead of simply pointing out the architecture, Jack shared many interesting stories about Hu Xueyan, his family, and the history behind the residence. His storytelling was vivid, engaging, and educational. My husband particularly enjoyed this part of the tour and felt that he learned a lot about Chinese history and culture from Jack. Jack was also wonderful with our two young children. He was very considerate of their energy levels and adjusted the itinerary and pace when needed. He interacted with them throughout the day and even bought them little gifts, which was very thoughtful. His car was spacious, clean, and extremely comfortable, and he had prepared lots of snacks for the ride — definitely a highlight for our kids! Another thing we really appreciated was how convenient Jack made the entire trip. He is an excellent driver and always managed to find the closest possible parking spot to each attraction. This may sound like a small detail, but on a hot summer day in Hangzhou with two young children, it made a huge difference. Overall, Jack is friendly, confident, knowledgeable, and an excellent communicator. He combines a knowledgeable tour guide with a comfortable private driving experience, while also being very thoughtful about the needs of families. We had a great day with him and came away knowing much more about Hangzhou. Highly recommended!

Reading all of the reviews beforehand I'm kinda expecting service from Jack is somehow good, but it's way more than what I expected. Even our 6yo son said "Jack is the best in here". Spend time with him and trust me, that when you know why he got all 5 star reviews.

We did a one-day Hangzhou tour with Jack as a family of two adults and two children under 10 years old, on a rainy day. Jack was an excellent tour guide—friendly, flexible, and very accommodating to our family’s needs. His car was spacious, comfortable, and spotlessly clean. He is knowledgeable about Hangzhou and shared useful insights throughout the trip. He also gave us great advice on how to avoid common tourist traps, which made our experience much more enjoyable. Despite the rainy weather, Jack was very thoughtful and well-prepared. He had umbrellas ready for all of us, which made sightseeing much more comfortable. What impressed us the most was that he never pressured us to visit silk, pearl, or tea shops to earn commissions, unlike many local tour guides. Instead, he focused entirely on giving us a memorable and enjoyable experience. If you’re looking for a trustworthy, professional, and family-friendly private tour guide in Hangzhou, I highly recommend Jack!

Booked a family trip during the June school holidays in Singapore. When we first did a search on TripAdvisor and chanced upon Jack, we were skeptic at first. However, after our trip, we were so glad that we had come across his page in TripAdvisor and engaged his service. Our trip consists of Shanghai, Hangzhou and Wuzhen, travelling with a total of 8 people (consists of elderly and children). We have lots of enquiry during the planning stage and Jack was able to clear our doubts very quickly. Communication was very prompt and hassle free. Jack used his knowledge and guide us on how to go about planning our 9D8N trip. His rates were transparent and budget friendly. We engaged Jack for airport pick up & drop off services, day tours, city transfers (Shanghai to Hangzhou, Hangzhou to Wuzhen, Wuzhen to Shanghai), hotel accommodation and attractions tickets. He got special agent rates and we are glad it was extended to us. During airport transfers and trip, the drivers came on time and were professional. Jack planned our itinerary and we managed to visit all the attractions we had planned. Jack was good at sharing the history of the places we visited, he used story-telling method which made it interesting and easy for adults & children to understand history. There were little hiccups during our day tour but Jack managed to resolve it promptly. The least thing any travellers will want is to have any issues or “opps, sorry i overlooked..” with or during their trips. We were glad that our 9D8N trip went smoothly with Jack (hotel rooms booked accordingly, show / attraction tickets bought correctly, drivers always early, etc). We are glad that we had engaged in Jack’s service during our trip to China and we do highly recommend him to anyone who needs a tour guide for your trip to China!
