We booked a sunset cruise for Saturday, August 8, 2026 at 7pm. The tour was supposed to be one and a half hours long. We didn't get to see the sunset and didn't get off the boat until 10:00 pm. It was an absolute disaster. The boat sat for a full hour and by the time it started moving, we missed the sunset. I understand that things happen, but the way it was all handled was ridiculous. Even though the passengers were stuck on the boat until 10:00 pm, the servers closed all services at 8:30 pm and would not serve us drinks or snacks. There was also no offer of a discount or refund either for missing the SUNSET and making us sit at a stand still for the majority of the tour. Even once it started moving, it just went in circles for a while before sitting once again. For the 3 hours we were stuck, we may have moved for 20 minutes. Waste of money and time. Customer service was absolutely horrible.

This tour is NOT what we expected. They don’t tell you that they have no idea about the timing of the lock and you will be sitting there for over 40 minutes on each side. We missed the sunset, and yet received no sympathy from tour guide nor captain at that fact. This was a really horrific experience being trapped on a boat for almost 4 hours. The captain at one point stopped giving us updates and just started hightailing it back to the dock blowing his horn in our ears in an effort to get back before the fireworks. We just BARELY got back in time to see the fireworks. This was overall a 5/10 experience and i’m only giving it that high because their cocktails were good and the view was still quite stunning. ***ALSO warning to those who are doing their architecture tour, just skip it. This tour guide has the exact same spiel and this one was far more informative.

Beautiful views and great tour guide. Other staff members were not very friendly, especially the young blond lady with the pink and white Jordan shoes. She was absolutely rude and lacks any sort of friendly manner!

So beautiful and tranquil. Loved the atmosphere and smell of Lake Michigan.

There are significant delays in entering and exiting the Lake. So although it is billed as 1.5 hours, it took 3 hours and ended around 10 pm.

While the scenery was beautiful once we started moving, the tour started an hour late. We sat longer than toured. While sitting out side the bar we saw big spiders on the on the guard railing along the sides and top of the boat. I was taking pictures, my husband grabbed me back because a big brown spider was right above my head. We sat in the bar area for that reason. We had other reservations but missed because the extra time we had to spend sitting and waiting on the boat.

I’ve done this cruise before and had a lovely time. This time, unfortunately, it felt more like being on a crowded city bus. There was barely enough room to turnaround let alone actually see the view. I would recommend going during a less busy season. The weather may not be as nice, but at least you’ll be able to breathe. My recommendation to Wendella is to put a lower cap on the number of tickets that are sold per outing so that guests can actually enjoy themselves.

The tour was very pretty, and our guide was wonderful. However at the beginning we were told that sometimes the locks delay getting back about 30 minutes which would be fine. However we were an hour and a half late, not allowing any time to find anything to eat after and the total tour that should have taken was 3 hours sitting majority of the time for the lock, rather than an hour and a half.
