Awesome whale watching experience!! Better than we expected. Our one friend is visually impaired, however we were able to hear the noises of the whales and the breath from their blow holes. The naturalist knew the area and whales and shared much knowledge. Beautiful trip and great staff. We will definitely do this again if ever in the area.
Firstly, the people were knowledgeable and lovely. The boat was smaller than I imagined and the snacks were merely a charcuterie board and nuts. The worst was we saw one whale ( maybe a second spout). Flame, the famous resident, spouted and showed her tail. It was very upsetting when I learned others taking merv and irv’s that day saw perhaps twenty… bubble feeding and breaching. As we spent, I believe, five times what they did, I was disappointed. We were there to see whales, after all. We saw more from the cruise ship… I believe it stems from thei means of locating them. They don’t have sonar or drones. They just drive around looking for spouts…
Thank you for your review and for highlighting our friendly team! We are thrilled you had the opportunity to see Flame during your outing.Wild animal behavior is naturally unpredictable, which makes managing expectations challenging on any given day. While our goal is always to share as many sightings as possible, conditions and whale movements change rapidly. Because marine life moves freely, sightings can differ significantly from hour to hour and vessel to vessel. We also want to clarify that using drones or sonar to locate whales is prohibited by federal law under the Marine Mammal Protection Act. No whale watching company uses these devices; all operators rely on trained eyes and spotters. Our captains have great respect for our wildlife. Rather than simply following the large crowd of vessels, which can stress the animals, our captains choose a more sustainable approach. As you can see from our high volume of 5-star reviews, we pride ourselves on offering top-tier, respectful wildlife encounters. We appreciate your business and your feedback regarding our catering and yacht layout.
Well worth the money! Small group, professional staff, amazing experience! Shannon was so knowledgeable and Taylor found us two big pods of whales literally 25 yds away from each other! Both were bubble net feeding….the experience of a lifetime! The yacht was cozy & comfortable with delicious snacks & drinks that offered amazing viewing as well.
Thank you for the fantastic review! We are thrilled to hear that your whale watching tour was the experience of a lifetime. Shannon and Taylor love sharing their passion for marine life, and spotting two pods bubble-net feeding so close together is truly a rare and spectacular sight. We take great pride in offering an intimate, small group experience aboard our cozy yacht, complete with premium snacks, drinks, and optimal wildlife viewing. As a locally owned small group whale watching company, our goal is to deliver unmatched comfort and unforgettable encounters with nature. Thank you for choosing us for your adventure—we hope to welcome you back on the water again soon!
Kate picked us up in a very nice sprinter van and explained the area as we drove to the yacht location. Captain Buffy was amazing! Naturalist Abby was so full of information…a natural teacher. Kate, Captain Buffy, Naturalist Abby were more than we could ever hope for!! They had a beautiful charcuterie board, champagne and drinks for us. We were completely taken care of. What a fun and amazing evening of whale watching! The whales were bubble feeding! We saw a pod of 12! Then another pod of 9! Over and over again the whales would dive down then shoot up in another location! Such an amazing evening!! We highly recommend this team of knowledgeable professionals, who were also fun and engaging and showed us a once in a lifetime experience!
What an unforgettable evening! Thank you for sharing such a detailed review of your time with Kate, Captain Buffy, and Naturalist Abby. Witnessing that much bubble-net feeding action is pure magic. We build our luxury small-group whale watching tours to pair world-class wildlife sightings with top-notch comfort and hospitality. Thank you for choosing us for your once-in-a-lifetime adventure!
We were a three generation family of seven that had the good fortune of doing a Whale Watch tour with Alaska Luxury Tours in August of 2026. While some of our group had done whale watching tours before, the excursion with Luxury Tours was above and beyond anything any of us had experienced. From the skilled and engaging guides (Shannon and Jen) to the impressive yacht and delicious spread, we actually would have been content had we not seen any whales. Although we definitely did and from pretty close proximity. Bottom line, if you're going to go whale watching in Alaska, spend a bit more money and go with Luxury Tours. You won't regret it!
Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a glowing review! Hearing that our trip stood out above your past whale watching experiences means the world to us. Multi-generational family trips are our specialty, and we take great pride in combining premium hospitality, expert naturalists, and front-row views of humpback whales. Thank you for recommending Alaska Luxury Tours!

Our experience with Alaska Private Luxury Tours was top-notch and first class all the way! The pick up at our cruise terminal was super easy. The boat itself was spectacular...roomy, clean, so very comfortable (really, really nice restroom)...not to mention drinks, charcuterie, champagne! Whatever we wanted...they had it! It was such a nice touch on what was a wonderful day. But above all...our Captain and Naturalist were AMAZING!!! I could not recommend booking this experience enough! Of course the beautiful whales stole the show!
What a magnificent day on the water! Thank you for sharing such details about your trip with Alaska Luxury Tours. We are thrilled you enjoyed the gourmet spread, the comfort of our yacht, and of course, the incredible whale sightings. Hope to see you back in Alaska!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Our private whale watching excursion with Alaska Luxury Tours in Juneau was, without question, the highlight of our Alaska cruise! Captain Abby and her two crew members were warm, enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and incredibly entertaining. From the moment we stepped aboard their beautiful luxury yacht, we felt welcomed. A delicious charcuterie board and adult beverages were waiting for us, which made the experience feel even more special. The yacht itself was pristine, comfortable, and elegant. It was the perfect setting to relax while searching for whales. The whale watching exceeded every expectation. We saw multiple humpback whales, and what made it even more fascinating was that Captain Abby and her crew knew many of them by name because these same whales regularly return to the area. Their knowledge of each whale and its behavior added so much to the experience. There is simply nothing like seeing the misty spout in the distance, then watching a massive whale rise from the water before gracefully diving and lifting its magnificent tail into the air. It is a sight we’ll never forget. If you’re visiting Juneau and are considering a whale watching excursion, don’t hesitate. Alaska Luxury Tours delivers a first-class, unforgettable experience that was worth every penny. We would book with Captain Abby again in a heartbeat!
Thank you for taking the time to share such a beautiful review! We are thrilled that your time with Captain Abby and our crew was the absolute highlight of your Alaska cruise. Recognizing individual humpback whales by their unique tail flukes and sharing their stories is one of our favorite parts of guiding tours in Juneau. Combining expert marine knowledge, luxury yacht comfort, and premium food and drinks is what we strive for on every private charter. Thank you for recommending us, and we would love to welcome you back aboard anytime!
Today, we tookour Alaska Luxury Whale Watching tour and it couldn't have been better. First, the accommodations are First Class. Plenty of room and very comfortable. Our Driver, Mo,was fantastic. She picked us up from the port and drove us to where we would meet the yacht. Along the way she pointed out places of interest and gave us some history. When we gotta the dock, we were met by our Naturalist, Twain. He was great. So informative and helpful. He had so much information about the animals and surrounding areas. Then there was Capitan Jen. She knew right where to go and show us so many Whales. This team showed us the perfect excursion. My wife and I couldn’t have asked for anything more. I would pay this price anytime I get service and an experience like this. Thank you Capitan Jen, Twain and Mo. You guys were fantastic!!
Thank you so much for this glowing review! We are delighted to hear that Mo, Twain, and Captain Jen made your private whale watching tour a top-tier experience from start to finish.
