I found the size of the house for the 1600s quite amazing. Rembrandt had a good set up while it lasted.

Definitely worth the ticket price - audio guide included. The guide provided a detailed description of each room, the history, the pictures and what day to day life was like.

Well presented timetable and the significant events Rembrandt endured, especially all the family tragedy. Typical money problems, but at least he had some profitable years and lucrative success (unlike Van Gogh) Nice to see historically accurate room furnishings; the favored etchings. Audio guide easy to use; NOTE many rooms have more than the first (3) buttons of explanation; see the arrow and cursor right.

Our visit to the Rembrandt House was very informative, inspiring, and completely thrilling. In addition to the digital, we also particularly liked the analog presentation here, especially the printing demonstration by one of the very pleasant staff members.

Very interesting and helpful audio guide and visual demonstrations for anyone interested in the details of the skills needed to be an artist in that era and today.

I had a wonderful experience visiting the Rembrandt House Museum. Everything was very clear, beautifully presented, and well organized, and the staff were incredibly kind and welcoming. I would just like to make one small suggestion regarding the language options on the iPads/audio guides. I noticed that Persian (Farsi) is not currently available, while many other languages are supported. It would be wonderful if Persian could be added as well. Although many Persian-speaking visitors may speak English or German, having the option to experience the museum in their native language would make the visit even more accessible and enjoyable for them. Overall, I really enjoyed my visit and was impressed by how thoughtfully everything was presented. Thank you for the great experience!

This was the highlight of our visit to Amsterdam. It was absolutely fascinating to walk around Rembrandt’s house and learn so much about the man, his work and his times. You get a real sense of who he was and what set him apart as an artist. A bonus at the end was a demonstration of paint mixing in the days before premixed oils. The audio guide was excellent. Real value - treat yourself!

We walked to the Rembrandt House Museum from the Park Plaza Victoria Amsterdam, and it took us around 15 to 20 minutes. We were travelling with children, so naturally it took a little longer as we stopped along the way to browse the shops and take lots of photos (of course! 😄). We didn't buy tickets in advance and simply purchased them when we arrived. The process was straightforward, and thankfully there wasn't a long queue when we visited. However, during peak tourist periods, it may be worth booking ahead to save time. The museum is located in the house where Rembrandt van Rijn lived and worked for many years, and it gives visitors a fascinating glimpse into his daily life. Walking through the rooms feels like stepping back into 17th-century Amsterdam. The house has been carefully restored and furnished to show how Rembrandt and his family would have lived. One of the most interesting parts of our visit was seeing where Rembrandt created his artwork and learning about his artistic process. We particularly enjoyed the live demonstrations showing how he produced his famous etchings and prints. The staff explained the techniques used at the time, making it easy to understand how much skill and patience was involved. Another highlight was learning how artists created their own pigments from natural materials. The demonstration showed how colours were mixed and prepared before modern paints existed, which was fascinating for both adults and children. The museum offers an audio guide, which is included with admission, and there is also a dedicated child-friendly version. This made the experience much more engaging for younger visitors, as the information is presented in a way that's easier for children to understand and enjoy. Although there aren't many original Rembrandt paintings on display, the museum excels at telling the story of his life, work, successes, and financial struggles. You'll also find many of his etchings and learn how he became one of the Netherlands' most celebrated artists. A few things to keep in mind: ✅ The historic house has several staircases, some of which are quite steep, so comfortable footwear is recommended. ✅ Allow around 1.5 to 2 hours for your visit if you want to listen to the audio guide and watch the demonstrations. ✅ Photography is permitted in many areas, making it a great place for those who enjoy documenting their travels. ✅ The museum is located in the heart of Amsterdam, so it's easy to combine with other nearby attractions, cafés, and canal walks. One thing to note is that Rembrandt's famous painting "The Night Watch" is not displayed in the Rembrandt House Museum. It is housed in the Rijksmuseum, so if you're hoping to see this iconic masterpiece, you'll need to visit both museums during your time in Amsterdam. Audio (and booklet) explained Rembrandt’s life, career, home life, and lifestyle very well. It was also interesting to see his etchings, which were not so prominent in art galleries

This is a great stop for any lover of art while in Amsterdam. It is in the building Rembrandt once lived in. There are very few things that actually belonged to him in the house and it is RECREATED and what they believe it would have looked like when he lived there but it is still very interesting. They have hundreds of his etchings but I believe only one painting. On the first floor they have a small glass case of artifacts that they believe had belonged to him as they were dreged up from the cesspool and are period correct. Other than that I believe everything to be a recreation including the floor with his collection of "stuff." You get the audio tour with the price of admission and it is very informative and i found the English one very easy to understand (I only say that as at a different place in the Netherlands an audio tour i received had a very thick accent and was hard to understand). My one issue with this museum is that you need to know where you are within the house to press the correct corresponding audio clip to go with the room/area. Given the building is skinny with just 2-3 rooms per floor but tall you'd think this is an easy task and somehow I inexplicably seemed to have missed a room or could not figure out for the life of me what I was listening to corresponded to at one point. So many other museums in Amsterdam you have to point at a number on a wall and it will play the corresponding clip and it's so much better. Even if they just had numbers in the rooms so you could pick the correct one on the screen would be better. Overall it was a small inconvenience but i definitely got turned around a couple times like "wait what am i learning about?" There are some stairs to navigate and they are skinny and steep like most places of that period. There are free lockers to put away personal items. They made me lock up my not very big purse. Seems like a lot of people in the comments take issue with this. I dont really feel like it's that big of an issue. They asked I not bring my purse and gave me a free solution to this problem. In the very last room there is the one painting i believe they have an some interesting history on it as it was damaged in a fire and they have a spot with a recreation of what they think it may have looked like originally. If you love art and art history this is a must stop. I really enjoyed it. My husband is not super into art so he went and did something else while I went here and I dont think it would have interested him that much but I really enjoyed it.
