My experience was bittersweet, although not because of the tour itself, but because of the situation I experienced at the border with Honduras.
Upon arriving at Immigration, I was informed that citizens of some Latin American countries, including Colombia and Venezuela—in addition to a couple of other countries I don't recall—are subject to certain additional entry protocols for the country.
Although I was finally able to enter Honduras, I had to wait three hours at the border while Immigration responded to my request. As a result, I missed the tour to the Copán ruins and was only able to enjoy a brief tour of the town before starting the return trip.
I share this experience as a recommendation for other Latin American travelers who wish to take this tour and are not Central American, since the latter usually have easier entry requirements. It is important to keep in mind that considerable delays can occur at the border, which could affect the progress of the tour.
PS: I want to especially thank Jorge, from the tourism agency, who was accompanying me at all times and managing the situation so that the rest of the group could continue with the tour. His willingness and commitment were very valuable.

¡Hola SEBASTIAN!

Worth it!
This was such a fun day tour! We got picked up from our hotel and all the boarder crossings went very smoothly. We arrived early enough to comfortably see the ruins and take a lot of pictures. Then we headed into the small village and had lunch and time for some souvenirs. If you get a chance to do this I would highly do it!

Long but worthwhile drive to see the Copan ruinas
It was a long ride, but through a beautiful landscape. Omar drove in a very safe and defensive manner, so we felt safe with him as a driver. His support at the border crossings was great. Fortunately these did not take long. The Copan archaeological site definitely was worth a visit. Even after having visited Tikal and a few Mayan sites in Belize because the amount of sculptures on display made it very different. The downside is that the slow truck traffic resulted in a much longer drive than absolutely necessary. It may be recommended to stay overnight near Copan.

Hola !
Thank you for this incredibly helpful review of our Copán Archaeological Site Day Trip!
You are completely right: it is a very long day on the road, especially with the highway truck traffic. That is exactly why having a professional like Omar is so important. We are thrilled to hear you felt completely safe with his defensive driving and that his support made the border crossings quick and stress-free.
We love that you highlighted how unique Copan's sculptures are, making the journey worthwhile even after visiting Tikal! For future travelers reading this, we appreciate your tip: while this day trip is perfect for those short on time, we also happily arrange customized overnight stays for a more relaxed pace. We will be sure to share your kind words with Omar!

Great Day Heading to Copan!
Our driver Omar was amazing! He was very kind, drove safely, and made sure we were taken care of all day. We even had a two hour delay due to an accident on the highway and immigration into Honduras. He was nothing but professional through it all! The guide at Copan that he had arranged for us was also incredible. It was a very, very long day though with an incredible amount of driving. So long as you know and are expecting that, I’m sure you’ll have an amazing time, too!

Hola EVelisec!
Thank you so much for this honest and appreciative review! A day trip to the Copan Archaeological Site in Honduras is definitely an adventure, and we are so proud of how Omar handled the unexpected challenges.
Dealing with a 2-hour delay due to accidents and immigration lines can be stressful, so we are thrilled to hear that Omar remained "nothing but professional," kind, and safe throughout the journey. That peace of mind is exactly what we want to provide on these long-distance tours. We are also glad the local guide at the ruins made the history come alive!
Thank you for the great "heads up" to future travelers about the driving time—it is a long day, but an unforgettable one!

I prefer one than two days.
We booked for a day trip to Copan from Santa Ana, El Salvador with Salvadorans. Most agencies make this trip in 2 days. You pay more with the same time on the spot. In 12 hours more or less we experienced the visit in Copan.
In less than 5 hours we were at Copan through Guatemala. We spent as much time as we needed at the ruins (three hours). After that we made a small visit at Copan village.
We arrived back to our hotel in Santa Ana before dark. The driver was very professional and helpful. He never said "no".
We recommend Salvadorean tours because we trust them. From the first communication they we were clear.

Great Experience!
Had a wonderful time! One day before the trip, pickup location was set. There are pickup locations in the main areas of San Salvador (near intercontinental hotel and Zona Rosa) and the bus arrived timely. Border crossing SV>GT efficient and clean (bathroom stop at the SV side). Drive thru Guatemala non-stop. Border with Honduras, Guatemala side efficient, Honduras side not so much. Need L./80 (dollars not accepted) and exchange not efficient at border. Once in Copán, payment of fare to visit ruins (20USD, accept credit card) and additional fares for tunnels and museum. Loved Gladys the tour guide, very informative and funny. You can climb the ruins. Tunnels worth it. Museum also interesting to see the original pieces of what you have seen in the ruins. Time left for buying souvenirs (cheaper outside the ruins, you can walk to the place) and eating (restaurant on premises, prices OK and accept credit card). Driver was very polite and friendly (forgot his name)! Loved the experience and do recommend very strongly. Make sure your passport has room for 8 stamps!
