I loved the tour! I did cooking activities before and this one surpassed my expectations! I will highly recommend it if you want to spend time in a local area, learn about Chinese culinary customs, and cuisine, and have a pleasant time. I learnt so much in a very clean environment, with a lot of support and insight. Lance was an excellent host/guide who facilitated the experience with excellent humour, mannerism and generosity. Fantastic Experience in Chengdu thanks to Lance! 10/10 super job!

We had an amazing time this evening with Hang (Lance) and our chef Ho. Lance is very knowledgeable about Chinese cuisine and its ingredients and techniques, which makes the market tour a real insightful, local experience. Making the food and having it ourselves felt like having dinner with friends. Would highly recommend.

Brilliant experience! I did the 5-dish cooking class in the afternoon but it is so much more than that! Lance met us all at the metro station and was warm and welcoming- in fact he is an absolute sweetheart. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the food, both showing us around a local non-tourist market and helping me cook. I learnt so much about the ingredients, culture and cuisine. He also answered all my questions about the food and Chinese language. He bought some things we were interested in at the market and then we went back to the school/restaurant and had tea and snacks. Chef (I am sorry, I do not remember her name) did not speak much English so Lance translated but she was really lovely too. The food was delicious and the instruction great. Traveling solo, I really felt part of a ‘family’ for the afternoon, with Lance, Chef and the rest of the small group. I could not recommend this experience highly enough! Thank you so much!

Loved the cooking experience this afternoon with chilli cool China. Even better was the 60+ minute tour of the local market with amazing variety and quality of vegetables and fruit, every cut of meat, and live fish and frogs awaiting their fate. Also noodles being made from scratch and every spice you can imagine. Our guide Lance knew everything, and clearly loved the food he was talking about - in perfect English. Tea and snacks back at the chilli venue before serious work to handle the chinese cleaver to crush cucumber and finely slice garlic and boiled pork. Fast frying on the wok with mixed spices kept is on our toes as the five dishes came to life. Wonderful guidance (in sichuan local dialect) from our chef, and great company from our French and British party. Thanks all, a brilliant way to spend the afternoon getting to know a little slice of Chengdu.

Had such a fun time!! Both our guide and chef were super lovely and made it really interesting. Our final meal was huge and so delicious. Went solo and would definitely recommend it as a way to spend an evening. The market visit was also really fun, as our guide showed us all the ingredients we would later use and asked the vendors to let us try lots of different things.

The cooking class was amazing! Our guide Lance was very friendly and helpful. The trip to the local market is a unique opportunity to learn about different foods, very interesting. The cooking class itself was a lot of fun, the chef was very kind, the food we cooked was delicious. Really recommended to do this experience!

Whenever I travel somewhere new, I try to choose an experience that will remind me of the destination. For Chengdu and Sichuan cuisine in particular, the choice was obvious: a cooking class since Sichuan is known for their food. Our guide and translator, Lance, helped make the experience one I’ll always cherish. Touring a local market with him was fascinating, especially learning about ingredients I had never encountered before, such as red carrots. I also have to mention Mrs. Ho, who was an excellent cooking instructor. She made the recipes look effortless and taught us how to prepare delicious Sichuan dishes. Best of all, everything we made turned out delicious. If I ever return to Chengdu, I would definitely do another experience with them.

The experience was great! Not too crowded, a nice quaint area away from the downpour. Lance our guide spoke great english and explained all the local groceries from the market. He even bought us some to things to try like the century egg, fish root, and coffee (which he didnt ask us to pay him back). The chef ms hong cooked with so much speed and experience it was akin to a master chef cooking challenge. The cooking portion was so quick and very informative. It would've been cool if we couldve bought the cabbage and garlic that was used in the cooking, but i guess it was pre portioned for us to save time. All in all i would highly recommend! We also received gifts at the end ;)
