You will see a lot of birds. We were lucky to see the shoebill. Eric the boat driver jumped into the water to get us closer to the Shoebill. He was far away and kind of hard to see even with zoom.

It was truly amazing to see a Shoebill in the marsh hunting so intently. We observed the adult female for a while and then moved deeper into the marsh and were treated by seeing the baby Shoebill. The female tour guide Trulea (or a similar name) was knowledgeable and gave us some of the history of Uganda and also information about the Shoebill. This was a highlight of our trip.

I was concerned going into the trip because I thought it will be boring- but trust me. This is one of the best excursions you will book. The experience is breathtaking. The landscape is unique. Even if you don’t care about Birds, you will see the most beautiful birds and change your mind. The tour operator was exceptional. They gave us lots of information and they were very kind. I cannot recommend this experience enough. It’s a full value for money experience.

We had some very nice time with our tour guide, he was knowledgeable and we were able to find easily a shoebill. The boat skipper was very good and nice with us.

Thank you very much, Ronnie is a very good guide. In the morning he took us to see the marabou storks, which were easy to find, and we were very lucky to see an adult and a family of three. He knows a lot. In the afternoon, we are going birdwatching on land. A very special experience!

What a wonderful morning in the Mabamba Swamp! We were picked up at 9am from our place in Kololo for 45 min drive to the landing point where Ronnie our guide met us. The Swamp is another 45 mins across Lake Victoria but the kingfishers make the journey lovely. At the Swamp we moved into a smaller canoe and travelled through very serene and beautiful wetlands. The shoebill we spotted was amazing and Ronnie and his captain were able to get us very close without disturbing the bird. It's not just the shoebill, though! The Swamp is home to many other beautiful bird species. Overall, a beautiful experience!
