Ian really knows and enjoys sharing his part of the world! He brought with him a guide he was training, and I'm so sorry I can't remember his name, because he added a great deal to our wonderful day, and it was like getting 2 guides for the price of one! We started at Blenheim, where they offer their own audio guides and don't want other guides to conduct tours, so Ian and our other new friend just accompanied the 2 of us as we toured and added insights as we went. It was like a group of 4 friends going through, 2 of whom had been there before and subtly shared their wealth of information as we toured. Then we went for a lovely lunch at a wonderful little pub before proceeding to Oxford. The only way to really get a feel for Oxford is on foot, and Ian knew exactly where to take us. I don't know if he went to Oxford as a student, had family who had studied there or what, but he obviously felt a personal connection to the place and institution and shared his enthusiasm for it as we went. He pointed out so many amazing things we would have never seen on our own, and we learned more than we could have imagined. Overall, it was an amazingly wonderful tour and experience. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who had any interest at all in the area.
