The cooking class was fun for our family. Easy to follow and Aki was very welcoming. Very kid friendly, I did this with my 7yo and 10yo. The kids loved it. We ate the ramen and gyoza after making it and it was delicious. Aki was fluent in English and I would recommend this experience to anyone.
What a great experience! Aki was excellent… very knowledgeable in the kitchen. She explained each ingredient to us then would show us the steps to prepare the dish. She spoke great English and was very helpful answering any questions we had. It’s a small class that takes up to 6 people…so it was nice to get to know Aki. She also took great photos and videos throughout the whole experience. After the class she sent organized recipes as well as photos and videos. Highly recommend! If you’re in Tokyo, the only choice should be cooking with Aki!
Amazing experience and delicious food! Tokyo Mom is an informative and engaging host! She was very accommodating to the dietary needs of our party and enabled us to prepare both vegetarian and meat dishes. We learned so much and are excited to make our own ramen and gyozas with the techniques we learned!
The food was delicious. I can't wait to try to cook it at home. The instructions were clear and the instructor was super helpful walking us through every step. The experience was very personal and my husband and I loved it. Aki also took amazing pictures of us. A truly lovely experience.
Our cooking class in Japan was easily one of the highlights of our anniversary trip. My husband and I have a tradition of taking a cooking class whenever we travel internationally, and this experience truly stood out among them all. What made it especially memorable was how intimate it felt, it just so happened it was just the two of us, which made the entire experience feel personal and relaxed rather than rushed or crowded. Our guide struck the perfect balance between being incredibly informative and keeping things light and fun. She walked us through every step in detail, which made the process even more meaningful. We had the amazing opportunity to make ramen completely from scratch kneading and cutting our own noodles and building a rich, flavorful broth. It was both hands-on and approachable, even for non-experts like us. Sitting down afterward to enjoy the meal we created together, beautifully presented, was such a rewarding moment. The space itself was spotless and thoughtfully set up with everything we could possibly need. It was clear a lot of care had gone into creating a welcoming and comfortable environment. If you’re looking for a unique and memorable experience in Japan, especially as a couple, this is something truly special. It’s more than just a class, it’s a shared memory we’ll be talking about for years- especially the gyoza!
Great way to learn authentic Japanese Ramen and Dumplings cooking cuisine. Instructor was patient and made the experience enjoyable. Food and environment were outstanding. Highly recommend this activity if you are visiting Tokyo.
Hi Sergio, Thank you so much for your kind review! I’m really happy to hear that you enjoyed making ramen and dumplings, and that the experience felt authentic and fun. It was a pleasure cooking with you, and I hope you can recreate the dishes back home! Wishing you a wonderful time for the rest of your stay in Japan. Warm regards, Aki
This was such a great activity learning to make a couple of traditional foods from scratch. Aki had everything organized ready to go but the hands on were ours. She also followed up with written recipes and photos of the event
Thank you so much for your kind review. I’m really glad you enjoyed learning how to make traditional dishes from scratch. I always try to prepare everything so you can focus on the hands-on experience, so I’m happy to hear that came through. I also hope the recipes and photos will help you recreate the dishes at home. It was a pleasure cooking with you. Wishing you all the best .
The best event we did in our 2 weeks in Japan. So much fun. Aki and her associate are so kind and helpful. We not only made our own ramen, but also gyoza. We, as the cooks, followed her instructions for the measurements and created the GREAT meal we enjoyed together. We learned how to properly fold & stuff the gyoza, roll out and cut our own noodles, cook them al dente, sear the pork shoulder, and fine tune our own creations. This was a blast. Aki sent us a load of photos and videos afterwards that we are still enjoying. This is a 10/10 experience.
Thank you so much for your wonderful review. I’m truly happy to hear that it was the best experience during your time in Japan. It means a lot to know you enjoyed not only making ramen but also gyoza, and that you had fun being fully hands-on throughout the class. I’m glad you could experience each step, from making noodles to shaping gyoza and cooking everything together. I also hope the photos and videos bring back good memories, and that you’ll recreate the dishes at home someday. It was a real pleasure cooking with you. Wishing you all the best on your journey.
Loved this class! Our group ranged in age from 10 years old to 75 and everyone enjoyed it. There was lots of opportunity for hands-on cooking and also time to enjoy our creation! The class was located in Shinjuku making it easy to continue exploring sights after this ended. Thank you, Aki!
Thank you so much for your kind review. I’m really happy to hear that everyone, from the youngest to the oldest, enjoyed the class together. It means a lot that you appreciated both the hands-on experience and the time to enjoy the meal you created. I’m also glad the location made it easy to continue exploring Tokyo afterward. It was a pleasure cooking with all of you.
We were 3 and were very lucky to have Aki to ourselves!! Aki speaks very good English and his explanations are simple and effective. His good mood puts him at ease right away! The apartment is very nice and bright. We loved learning how to make our own soba and gyoza (after several searches of cooking workshops, it is the only one to offer the making of soba from A to Z, the other workshops offering soba already ready). So yes it is more expensive than elsewhere but the quality of the products and instructions is there. Of course, the tasting is a huge success and we find it a little hard to believe that we prepared all this. I can only recommend the Aki courses to whom I suggested to offer for sale the necessary equipment for the preparation of soba (knife, board and roller) because you can not find in Tokyo in small format like those used during the course (even in Kappabashi Street where I went, in vain. Because let’s be honest, we all want to remake the recipe once we get home!
Thank you so much for your wonderful and detailed review. I’m really happy to hear that you enjoyed having the class just for your group and felt comfortable from the beginning. It means a lot to know you appreciated learning to make everything from scratch, especially the soba and gyoza. I’m also very glad you enjoyed the atmosphere, the ingredients, and the final meal you created together. Thank you as well for your suggestion about the soba tools—that’s a great idea, and I truly appreciate you sharing it. I understand how hard it can be to find the right size and tools, especially after experiencing the full process. I hope you will recreate the dishes at home and relive the experience again. It was a pleasure cooking with all of you.
