Nuwan gave a wonderful and very interesting tour. Based on his explanations, we could imagine what the city of Polonnaruwa looked like and what life in the city was like. We also looked at the museum with Nuwan; he was able to tell many interesting stories and details about the exhibited items. We learned a lot with Nuwan; without him, we certainly would have missed a lot.

Amazing visualization of history and buddism philosophy
We wanted to find out more about the cultural heritage of Sri Lanka and the kings that ruled the island before. This tour by far exceeded our expectations.
The polonnaruwa archeological site itself was above all impressive. But besides that, this well explained, relaxed and clear english tour not only gave us the correct interpretations (or presumed assumptions) about the old ruins and how the monks and kings were living there. We truly visualized ourselves how the ruins looked before the destructions in the battles that have taken place.
It also gave us a complete overview of different perspectives on buddism/hinduism and how the distinctive elements per belief, but also within buddism can be seen in the temples and statues/remainders.
If you want a joyful, energetic and complete immersion into history, Don Nuwan is your guide! Of course it was a hot day in 36 degrees, but the tuctuc, carefully chosen shades, sri lankan local lunch snacks and wonderful explanations made the eventually 7 hours fully worth the time and visit!

Best guide of our trip to Sri Lanka
We had a few guides during our tour of Sri Lanka, but none were as knowledgeable and interesting as Don Nuwan. As a guide he frequently referenced the positions of different scholars in explaining the various sites of Polonnaruwa. This makes him no regular guide as he brings with him the discipline of a scholar and lecturer- and we felt so lucky to have him guide us through historic Polonnaruwa. Highly recommended. Fantastic Experience with Nuwan
We recently had the pleasure of doing a bike tour around Polonnaruwa with Nuwan, and the tour was absolutely fantastic!
Nuwan is incredibly passionate and knowledgeable about the ancient city, and he really brought everything to life with his stories, knowledge and enthusiasm. We thoroughly enjoyed our time with him, and the experience simply wouldn’t have been the same without him explaining the history and significance of everything we saw.
Nuwan also arranged the bike hire for us at a very reasonable price, and everything was sorted quickly and efficiently. A big thank you as well for the delicious rotti and refreshing juice!
Thank you so much, Nuwan, for such a wonderful and memorable experience. We would highly recommend Nuwan to anyone visiting Polonnaruwa.

Polonnaruwa Kingdom with Don Nuwan
The most memorable part of the experience was walking and seeing how far and long the walls are.The complexity and the structure amazed me .The time was perfect and the atmosphere was a bit hot.The ruins was out in the sun so we were sweating a-lot(I recommend to bring water hats and sunblock)The admission fee was reasonable and not that expensive. -Owen
