We initially booked our Safari Tour at Minneriya National Park with Mahaweli Tours & Holidays, but what started as a simple safari booking quickly turned into one of the best choices we made for our trip to Sri Lanka. After our booking, they contacted us to ask whether we needed any additional support during our journey. From there, we ended up booking almost all of our transfers with them – and we couldn't have made a better choice! A special mention goes to Geesara, who was a fantastic discovery and an absolutely amazing travel partner throughout our trip. He and the whole team were incredibly flexible and always willing to adapt to our needs, changes and requests. The drivers were punctual, professional, helpful and always on the ball, and the cars were comfortable and well maintained. We always felt that we were in good hands. As for the Minneriya safari, we were lucky enough to see elephants – and lots of them! 🐘🐘🐘 The guide was excellent and made sure we were always in the best possible position to enjoy the animals and the surrounding nature. Unfortunately, we weren't particularly lucky with spotting the other wildlife in the park, but that's simply part of a safari and obviously not something the company can control. The experience was still absolutely beautiful and worth it. What really stood out to us was the flexibility, reliability and genuine willingness to help shown by Mahaweli Tours & Holidays throughout our entire trip. 5 stars are more than deserved! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We would absolutely recommend them to anyone travelling around Sri Lanka. If you're looking for a reliable and flexible local travel partner, look no further!

We decided on a private safari in Minneriya National Park and were very satisfied overall. The tour was well organized and our driver made a great effort to show us as many animals as possible. We found the treatment of the animals to be particularly positive. Of course, the drivers communicated with each other as soon as animals were spotted somewhere, so that sometimes four or five jeeps were at an animal at the same time. However, we never felt that the animals were being unnecessarily harassed or disturbed. Once everyone had the opportunity to observe the animal for a few minutes, the vehicles moved on again. That is exactly how a safari should be in our opinion. The entire organization also worked well, and we found the private tour to be very pleasant. However, we would like to note one point that caused us some disappointment. The service description states: "Minneriya is also located near the world-famous Sigiriya Rock Fortress and the Dambulla Cave Temple. This way your day will be filled with activities and you will not regret it." To us, this sounded as if, in addition to the safari, other activities or a visit to one of the mentioned sights were part of the tour. Since this tour was also more expensive at €66.59 per person than other safaris offered, we chose it partly because of this description. We were all the more surprised when we headed straight back to the hotel after the approximately five-hour safari. We are aware that scheduling additional sights would be difficult. Nevertheless, based on the description, we would have expected at least one other activity to be part of the day. A clearer description of services would be desirable here so that it is clear what is actually included in the price. Apart from that, we can absolutely recommend the safari. Especially in comparison to our later safari in Yala National Park, we felt much more strongly here that the animals are treated respectfully and are the focus, rather than just the perfect photo for the visitors. That made a big difference for us and made the Minneriya safari a very beautiful experience.

Very good experience, i recommand

Our safari tour of Eco Park was a real highlight. The organization was through Bawantha was smooth and very friendly. The guide was very friendly and explained everything clearly and understandably in English, so we as Germans could follow without any problems. You can tell he has a lot of experience. Clear recommendation:)

Since the Minneriya National Park was unfortunately drunk at the time of our vacation due to heavy rainfall, we were informed at short notice but in time and then changed the safari destination to the Hurulu Eco Park. Here we saw mainly elephants up close

The safari was a wonderful experience! We saw elephants up close, enjoyed the jeep ride, and the guide was very friendly. The nature around was beautiful and peaceful. Truly a memorable trip!

We had a great time in Minneriya National Park. The tour lasted about three hours, which was plenty of time to see most of the animals roaming the park. If you visit during the right season and want to spot elephants, I highly recommend this tour.

A great tour to see so many Elephants, including babies, as young as just a few weeks, young ones and tusked adults. The Elephants come quite close to us while casually eating the grass. Young ones playing together were fun to watch.

We had a wonderful time on the safari! Despite a rainstorm the night before, we were lucky enough to see several elephants up close. The company was excellent, very communicative, attentive to our needs, and they even picked us up directly from our hotel. Highly recommend!
