シエナのグルメツアー：トスカーナ地方の郷土料理を堪能しよう

Lorenzo did a great job of guiding me through the cobblestone streets and alleyways of Siena in search of delicious food and drink! Our first stop was a tasting of white wine and the lady there was lovely. Next we stopped at a trattoria where I was served a Huge platter of various meats and cheese. It was fun to taste everything with the guiding hand of Lorenzo explaining each item. We stopped by a small little bar for an espresso and headed further down the cobblestone street to discover some delicious sweets and a sweet wine. So delicious! Lorenzo asked me if I wanted to try truffles but I respectfully declined! (No thanks!). Because I had eaten so much I decided not to enjoy any gelato but I cheerfully accepted the invitation to discover and learn about red wine at a very nice wine shop. The owner was very friendly and informative and I was able to learn about and taste several red wines. I really appreciated the fact that at each of the places we stopped I never felt pressured to purchase anything, only enjoy the experience! It was a great experience with Lorenzo! We have done many food tours all over the world and this was one of the very best we’ve ever done. Our young guide Lorenzo was an excellent and knowledgeable host with a clear passion for his city and its food and wine. We visited a number of venues some of which wouldn’t be obvious to tourists and every place was terrific. We had plenty of food, all delicious and with great variety, and the tour was bookended with a sparking wine tasting and one of a couple of Chianti Classico reds. It was from 5-7 and one tip was that if you’re planning dinner after, make a late booking! Strongly recommended

I spent a wonderful afternoon with Donatella walking around the streets of Siena, doing my favorite things - eating and shopping.  We visited some of her favorite food shops, including purveyors of baked goods, cheeses, and truffles, a pizzeria and a paninoteca, and of course wine shops -  one for white, one for red, owned by a husband and wife.  At each location, she was greeted warmly - an enthusiasm that was extended to me, as each shop owner explained their wares.  Everything was delicious and Donatella was lovely.  I enthusiastically recommend this tour for anyone who wants to learn about the food traditions of Siena, while at the same time meeting gracious residents of the city.
