リスボン: アルファマでポートワインと本格ライブファドショー

Traditional fado entails a 3 hour dinner where the musicians say very little and play maybe 10 minutes at a time taking long breaks. This show is tailor made to the person visiting Lisbon and experiencing fado for the first time. Excellent explanation of the history and culture of fado and of course the performance was spellbinding. Highly recommended!!!

The host/guitarist was very welcoming and the Fado performance was intimate, entertaining, and a wonderful introduction to Fado. He had an exquisite guitarra portuguesa accompanist; and beautiful guest vocals by an apparently well known male Fado singer and younger female singer: both very talented. The songs performed were a nice variety of sad & happy, and there was a clear passion for introducing & preserving the Fado tradition. We really enjoyed the evening.

The Fado evening at Casa Lundum was an experience exceeding our expectations, from Mario’s warm welcome with a glass of port wine, to the unique design of the show that fully immersed us into the history of fado, from the beginning of 3 musical lines to the present day 200, from expressing sad feelings to happy ones, from emotional guitar sounds and voices, to engaging the audience in singing together in the end. I learned a lot about the history of fado. It’s a beautiful art form and the host made it relatable. Would be happy to see it again.

An experience totally different from those usually offered to tourists who, in general, are looking to have a first approach to fado. In this case, a very good voice, very good guitar, and a brief and very interesting tour of the history of fado, old artists, other musical influences, and the main elements that build each piece are offered. With a personal approach. Highly recommended.

A magical blend of learning the history of fado, listening to beautiful performances by the guitarists and singers and joining in a fun sing-along. The glass of port to start was a treat - we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and it was a very fun introduction to Lisbon on our first day in the city.
