Absolute must if you have the time (well, and money because it's not cheap). Visiting Odessa (which is an unreasonably pretty city) isn't like visiting just another post-communist city, it's a glimps into a country at war. It shows the incredible perseverance of the Ukrainians, but also how civil society finds a way to continue. Words cannot express seeing that -- I highly, highly recommend going. We saw no danger, and few direct signs of the war (September 15), but we did hear air raid sirens. There are long queues at the border, and it is very far from Chisenau so prepare for a long day and not that much time in the city (4-5 hours). Our guide was professional, and the itinerary within Odessa is well selected. The group was small (3) which gave ample of opportunities for questions and all that.

We had a great time until the weather changed and it poured down. I hate getting wet but that is my issue The guide was very knowledgeable and friendly we had a lovely meal in the seafood restaurant. Odessa had an earie atmosphere. All the shops hotels and restaurants were open and life appeared to be going on as normal however it was obvious it was not!! The windows were boarded up in the public buildings and very few people especially men were out and about

I had an excellent time with my guide Christian showing me around the beautiful city of Odessa, Ukraine! It’s obviously still an “unconventional time” to travel to Ukraine, but I felt safe the entire time and would absolutely go back.
