Soroush was an absolutely incredible guide, and our private walking tour of Venice was easily one of the best two hours we spent during our trip to Italy. From the beginning, he was extremely flexible and genuinely focused on making the tour fit what we wanted to see and learn. He asked if there were any particular places we were interested in, adjusted the tour around our preferences, and made the entire experience feel very personal rather than like a standard scripted tour. His knowledge of Venice was exceptional. Soroush is completing his PhD in history, and that depth of knowledge really came through throughout the tour. He explained the different architectural styles we were seeing, how Venice was actually built, how the city developed over the centuries, and the historical significance of the many sites we passed. No matter what we asked about, he seemed to know the answer and was able to explain it in a way that was interesting and easy to understand. He was incredibly well prepared, engaging, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about history and Venice. We learned far more in those two hours than we ever could have by simply walking around on our own. If you are visiting Venice and want to truly understand the city rather than just see it, I cannot recommend Soroush highly enough. An outstanding guide and an easy 5-star experience.

Since we’d already visited St. Mark’s Basilica and the Doge’s Palace, he designed a route through quieter neighborhoods, canals, churches, and hidden corners of the city that we never would have found on our own. It felt like a personalized experience from beginning to end. Tony has an incredible ability to bring Venice to life. He didn’t just point out buildings. He explained how the city came to exist, how it evolved into one of the great maritime powers of history, and how its architecture, engineering, trade, politics, and culture all fit together. He covered everything from Byzantine, Gothic, and Baroque influences to Venice’s changing fortunes through the centuries, using maps and historical illustrations that made everything easy to visualize. Best of all, it was a conversation, not a lecture. He welcomed every question and always had thoughtful, insightful answers. My kids and I all thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Tony’s knowledge, enthusiasm, and ability to tailor the tour to our interests made for a fascinating few hours, and we walked away with a genuine understanding of Venice rather than just having checked off the major sights. We were really glad we did this shortly after arriving in Venice to give us the general lay of the land. As a bonus, Reza gave us lots of wonderful historical information and fun facts. Our only suggestion would be to speak up a bit as only the members of our group right by Reza could hear him.
