Highly recommend the 提灯 cho-chin Lantern workshop at BAC!
Joe was super welcoming right from the start. He gave a great background on the history and tradition of the lanterns, but what really stuck with me was hearing about his own personal journey learning the craft. You can tell how passionate he is about the art form, and that energy made the experience so much more engaging.
Crafting my own lantern with his guidance was awesome and easily the best souvenir I'm bringing back. If you’re traveling solo through Asakusa and want a genuine, hands-on experience, definitely check this out. Thanks for everything, Joe!

DO NOT MISS THIS
I had so much fun with this wonderful team！
I was pretty nervous at first going by myself, but as soon as I arrived, sweet hosts welcomed me and sooner or later I was totally immersed in the atmosphere.
The hosts were very informative and very patient throughout the workshop, making sure I understand every step.

Best Japanese Souvenir Ever
Didn't know what to expect but it turned out to be one of the best memories of my trip to Japan! Loved learning the history behind lantern making. Appreciate the art of chochin so much now... Also guide was super sweet. I was lucky to be the only customer and we spent the whole time talking non-stop.

Paper Lantern making
That was fun! Mr. Joe, our teacher, taught us so kindly.
I never thought I’d be able to make a paper lantern, so it was a great experience.

Such a fine time together
Can't wait to put this lantern in my room! My boyfriend and I each made one for each other, and the guide was sooo patient and helpful even though we are the clumsiest couple ever xD
