A really lovely day exploring both Sintra and Cascais with the hilight for me being the vibramt colours of the Pena Palace. Joao , our guide and driver did a great job of showing us around and teaching some history about the beautiful places we visited. Both me and my friend really enjoyed the day and would definately recommend this company and Joao for a great day out!
If you’d like to eat food at all during the day, do not go on this trip. They didn’t give any type of warning that you wouldn’t be eating until 4 PM in the late afternoon. There should’ve been a break for lunch at around 12 or 1 pm. There was no indication that this would be the case. I would not recommend this tour.

We completely understand why this was frustrating. Having an appropriate opportunity to stop for lunch is an important part of a full-day tour, and having to wait until approximately 4pm for a proper lunch break is certainly not ideal. This particular tour includes timed-entry tickets for both Pena Palace and Quinta da Regaleira. During the high season, when visitor numbers are at their highest, availability at these monuments is extremely limited and we are therefore very dependent on the entrance times allocated by the monuments themselves. We make every effort to secure the tickets well in advance, often purchasing them several weeks ahead of the tour date. However, even with this advance planning, the monuments themselves can sometimes impose last-minute constraints or changes to their available entrance times. Unfortunately, these situations are outside our direct control and can have a significant impact on the order and timing of the itinerary. As explained in the information provided on Viator, we may therefore need to adjust the order of the stops depending on ticket availability. While these constraints are particularly challenging during the high season, we recognize that they should not come at the expense of a reasonable lunch opportunity. We also accept that any unusual scheduling, particularly when it means having a later-than-normal lunch, should be communicated much more clearly to guests at the beginning of the day, so that everyone understands the schedule and can plan accordingly. We will reinforce this point with our guides and place greater emphasis on communicating the day's schedule, especially when monument availability requires us to operate outside the usual timing of the tour. You can’t predict the weather but our guide Alberto looked after us very well! Loved our time at Sintra and Cascais! Loved Regaleira! Make sure that is on your booking!
The day is jam-packed with lots of travel and walking (and waiting in lines). Sintra is beautiful, but overall I preferred Quinta de Regaleira and would have spent the entire time we were at Pena Palace there instead so as to explore all of the gardens and actually have time to go inside the palace. The viewpoint from Pena Palace is amazing for sure, and with the tour guide explaining a lot of its history it was definitely helpful for context. Otherwise, yes Pena Palace is pretty, however, you are waiting in line after line to see only specific parts of the palace and it is packed with people. We did not get to explore the gardens around it which looked more amazing than the palace and have a great history of their own. I think doing this palace with a guide is the way to go because they know where they are going and you skip more lines and understand a lot more about the palace and its history. If we had instead done this palace on our own with no context of history and all the waiting in lines I may have said its a waste of time unless you just want some pretty photos. Cascais was beautiful and we were there for maybe a little over an hour for lunch. If you really want to explore Cascais come on your own on another day as you do not get time to really see it. Overall our tour guide was great and I recommend the tour as a starting point as to where you would want to come back and explore if you have more time to do so. We did not have a chance to come back this visit but I know where I would focus my time the next time visiting Portugal.

Joao, our guide, was knowledgeable, help and had a wonderful sense of humor. This trip is not for those with walking disabilities as there are MANY climbs and steps throughout the trip but the experience is worth it. Highly recommend.
Beautiful trip to the palace of Sintra and to Cascais. Paolo was a very good guide and excellent driver! The views are stunning at the palace and in Cascais we ate the local snacks and had a lovely meal and dip in the refreshing ocean.
