This was our first ever visit to The Met. Alex, our tour guide, was excellent. The two hours went by very quickly and would have been much less enjoyable had we tried to go by ourselves. Would definitely recommend to anyone for their first visit to The Met as it would be overwhelming otherwise.
Our tour guide was Owen. He was amazing and would highly recommend. Thoroughly enjoyed the tour and a great value.

Not a good experience at all. We ( 2 grandparents, adult son, and granddaughters ages 11&14) left the 2.5 hr “tour” after 1/2 hour. We were told to be at the meet up spot 1/2 before the tour. We got to the Met early so that we could get lunch and use the restroom before the tour. But we couldn’t do that because our tickets were with our tour guide and the Met won’t let you in to either the cafe or the restroom without a ticket! Our tour guide arrived 10 min late and did not have a Viator badge or sign and did not wear an orange vest as we were told to expect). We had 20 min to use the restroom where we encountered long lines. 30 min into the tour we had only only seen 3 ancient statues. Very boring descriptions but we learned a great deal about our tour guides life. We couldn’t take it anymore! We had 2 hrs left before the Met closed to get a quick bite to eat and see as much as we possibly could. Beyond disappointing experience.
Hi Barry, Thanks for your review. We’re sorry you had a negative experience. It clearly states in our communications when you book this tour that the guide will have your tickets. Unfortunately the cafe is not available to guests without tickets. Based on our records, the guide was there at the museum 15 minutes before the start of the tour. We pride ourselves on our guides' historic and storytelling expertise. The description for this tour states that this is a small-group tour that covers the basics of the museum, from ancient Greek, Roman, and Egyptian masterpieces to highlights from the contemporary art world. It is impossible to cover everything in the museum as they have a massive collection of art and artifacts. We appreciate your feedback. Thank you.
Alex our guide gave one of THE BEST tours I have ever been on [50+ years travelling!]. Informative, educational., funny .it had everything you want to help you navigate your way around the Met Highly highly recommended..
Erika is amazing!! Her knowledge of the art at the museum was expansive, and she even provided some books and videos for more information on some of the exhibits. It was also great having insight from a native New Yorker! It felt more like a walk through a museum with a friend than a tour guide! I highly recommend Experience First Tours!
Erika was very knowledgeable and a great guide. She didnt just regurgitate facts, but wove the information into a fascinating story. We learned so much from Erika and she made our experience in NYC enjoyable.
